I want Karen Gillan's Colour Hair! using a semi colour....

Right! So i used Colour B4 on my previously coloured darkish brown/red hair a couple of weeks ago, which lightened it to a lighter coppery brown, a bit lighter at the roots (i am a natural redhead, although haven't seen my natural colour in 20+ years so whatever it is now is anyone's guess!)

So its not a million miles from the colour i want. Which is this -

Which is a richer auburn colour than i have, mine can still look a bit 'flat' in some lights and i suspect its gradually becoming darker again, which i have heard isn't unheard of after using Colour B4.

I don't want to use a permanent colour, as my hair has to rest anyway and i want to be sure of the colour, so i was wondering what semi colour can i use to get my hair the same shade as Miss Gillans? I'm a bit wary as i really don't want to go darker at all.

Any recommendations?

oohh thats my normal hair colour.....thinking of using the colour b4 to strip out the bright red i have been dying it for years.
deltawab - is it best to put a semi on after using CB4?
Sorry for the questions.

I go for Lush Henna... nothing beats it for glorious red or auburn shades.. and very kind to your hair!

henrythecat · 29/01/2012 22:02

Medusa...about the Lush Henna, is it permanent or semi-permanent and can you use it on hair that has been dyed using chemical dye? Does it cover greys (just talking a few odd ones, hardly any)

It's semi..but if you use it often enough it sort of becomes permanent, but it fades out rather than leaving roots. Yes you can use it over chemically died hair (I have many times!) and it covers grey as long as it's not massive blocks of it (it tends to come up redder)

It smells hideous and you spend a few hours wrapped in clingfilm..but worth it!

Nobodys- yes its best to apply only a level 1 colour after using Colour B4 like those clairol 1 bottle 8 washes. At the most, the next level, a 24 wash, but choose a couple of shades lighter than what you want to be,or you could risk going too dark.

I failed in finding a semi colour in the shade i wanted so i've chosen the Light Auburn Perfect 10 by Clairol a permanent colour. I'm not going to do it now, i'm waiting another 2 weeks, as i risk my hair going too dark, something about oxidizing & molocules (sp) after using CB4.

I'm just wondering how i should apply the colour when it comes to doing it. My lengths and ends are slightly darker than my 'parting/roots'. So i was thinking of starting at the nape, the bottom layer of my hair, working up towards the front, then do my roots last? Or do i begin with my roots first? What i want to avoid is 'root glow' and my ends becoming even darker. I'd say my roots are a light coppery brown and my lengths are a couple of shades darker.
