Too blond highlights, what can I do

Had my hair coloured today, love the main colour but the 'few' highlightes on the mid brown main colour are waaaay too light for my liking. I simply don't have the time to spend another few hours at the salon (it took me 4 months to find it this time!) Sad

Is there Anything I can do from home to tone them down?

This happened to me last year

I bit the bullet, didn't look in mirrors and let them grow ou

Get a home dye a shade darker maybe???

IncognitoDueToIncompetence · 28/01/2012 21:27

Oh god, I'm going to have to go back in aren't I? My poor hairdresser (regular) I should have known better than to get my hair done whilst with the onset of next lurgy, pmt and general period of low self confidence but I just wanted needed a boost.

It's not that the blonde highlights are white or anything, just the main hair colour is quite dark (for me) so it looks way too stripy. If the dark was lighter, or the highlights darker, it wouldn't be so bad.

I do know this is trivial compared to others problems, but i am a cry baby do not cope well with the small stuff, at such times.

Sad Sad

You will be better going back to the salon they should correct it free of charge, they is nothing you can do at home xxxx

Try a temp hair mousse to tone them down a bit.

Hair mascara on the bright bits (can you still buy that stuff??)

Or a home dye job in a mid-way-between-the-two colour - a friend of mine's daughter dyed her whole barnet too blonde, and they used a darker dye over it, toned it down a treat.

They can put a tint over them at the hairdressers which will only take about 10 minutes, I have had this problem in the past too.

DukesOfTripHazard · 29/01/2012 07:55

Back to hairdressers. They don't want you unhappy, you won't go back.

THis happened to me recently and I went back and they put a toner over the top - it was pretty quick and made a huge difference.....

Thanks everyone.

So I have used the baking powder and shampoo trick to lighten up the background and it is a little more bearable but I think I'm going to phone the salon tomorrow about the nasty blonde streaks which are still waaaaaay too light. I don't recall having any hair that light even when I was blonde so they are definitely not right, and they seem to be mostly around my face and in the fringe so are pretty obvious.
