Non tragic style blog featuring a stay at home mum - surely one of you S&B goddesses have set one up?

I love WIT's blog and Wendy's Look Book (she of fame). But neither of these girls have kids and as fab as their daily outfits are, they're mostly OTT for the school run. Is there a blog out there where a mum posts a photo of herself looking uber-stylish every day and gives us links to where she got the stuff so I no longer need to spend my days agonising over making up outfits? Any of the fashion blogs on the MN blogger network or ones I've found by googling are quite frankly, tragic

Http://www.girlsgonechild.net - Not technically a SAHM as she writes for a living but is a blogger from home with no work outside the home. She's fabulous.

Http://dooce.com - fab fab fab.

floralsanddresses · 28/01/2012 17:28

Sorry about the links.

dingdong3 · 28/01/2012 17:40

Thanks for the links floral...hadn't heard of either of those...but there's too much day to day life in them. I just want a gorgeous outfit a day, where they bought it and no boring details of their kids/husbands/dinner dilemma Grin

Blush, floralsanddresses. I'm going to nominate Dooce as Queen of the Tragic Style Bloggers. I can't stop reading her blog, it's addictive in a horrible way. I particularly love the Camilla photos.

floralsanddresses · 28/01/2012 18:05

I agree. Rebecca from GGC has a more experimental style. Love it or hate it kind of thing.

dingdong3 · 28/01/2012 18:08

Thanks for that blue and thanks again floral - sorry for my initial duh'ness ...I realise now that dooce has a style section Smile All I saw when I looked at it the first time was non-fashion stuff. That daily style is more what I was looking for. Any UK based ones anyone? I've trawled through the Talk archives and can't find any from previous threads.

I am launching my blog on 01/02/12. www.thethriftytimes.blogspot.com
am 35. mummy of 2. Work full time but am on a budget this year. Hence the idea for the blog. I love fashion and am considered well turned out by friends and have an eye for the pretty things in life!!! I will be posting pics of what I am wearing - all high street! I also tweet about shopping - amongst other things - @dressed366. I don't work in fashion and am not selling or promoting anything.

monkeysmama · 29/01/2012 11:44

Sounds interesting. Will follow you on twitter.

dingdong3 · 29/01/2012 14:39

Great stuff scarlet! Sounds right up my street. Looking forward to it Smile

I'm going to start a blog, a fashion and beauty one, I'm an avid blog fan, I visit
holly - yummymummybeautyblog hers is just beauty though.

I'm waiting till I've lost my baby weight though. No-one likes a fat blogger.

Quodlibet · 29/01/2012 15:09

Slightly alternative, in that there's an ethos of buying no new fashion behind it, but The End Of The New is pretty inspiring. Totally stylish normal woman.

dingdong3 · 29/01/2012 15:22

Well actually, I've gone and started up a blog also as I was getting so frustrated last night at the lack of one for mums on a budget, who are too busy for stilettos.
I am going to do it for a couple of months before revealing to friends as it's quite a scary thing to do....what will people think?? Shock
You guys can have a sneaky peek though if you want. Just two posts so far. Planning on getting some of my stylish mum friends to pose for me in coming weeks Smile
please be kind!

Best of luck with your blog; I'll remember to pop in often.

Would also like to recommend www.fashion-spy.co.uk
The writer, Kate, has two kids IIRC, and posts her outfits and fashion bargains that she finds. I read it regularly

dingdong3 · 29/01/2012 16:00

Thanks nan, you're very kind. And even bigger thanks for the link to Fashion Spy. That's very much what I was looking for in my OP - brilliant stuff! I'm already googling some of her outfits to see if they are still available Grin

Good for you dingdong. Like you, I have no blogging experience so no idea whether I will be crap or not!! But I do know that a lot of my friends who are the same age as me and have kids find fashion and beauty really tough - feel too old for some stuff but not ready to dress like their mothers. I am a big fan of WIT blog but as other have said, she doesn't have kids and seems to have much bigger budget than me and most of the mums I know.
I am quite happy to put myself out there - just please be kind ladies...

Popbiscuit · 29/01/2012 17:26

Fabulous Florida Mommy (ignore naff title) is one I like. She has four young boys so her outfits are pretty user-friendly. In particular, check out the "sets" she does on Polyvore.com ( I think there's a link to it from her blog...on the side bar).

American, obviously, but she features lots of things from J.Crew, Gap, Boden etc. that you can access in the UK, mixing them up in different ways.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 29/01/2012 17:28

Great idea for a blog.
I think LTEC (LetThemEatCake) started one a while back, although she also qorks from home. Can't remember what it was called - maybe one of the W&A posters will remember.

dingdong3 · 29/01/2012 17:43

scarlet I have followed your blog now - no pressure for Wednesday now, eh!! Wink Looking forward to starting the journey with another newbie.

Just for info, I worked out about an hour ago how to put an email box on the home page of the blog. I personally find it an easier way to 'follow' blogs as I don't use my gmail account on a daily basis. If you go into settings and I think it's 'layout' and select to 'insert a gadget'. It gives you the option to put an email box in.

I've had about 120 page views so far, solely from this thread - thanks girls x Wine

LTEC's brilliant blog is The Frockaholic but she's not done it for a while.

ThePoorMansBeckySharp · 29/01/2012 19:19

That Everyday mom Style one is dreadful!

I know it sounds bitchy of me but it's not exactly aspirational, is it?

scarlet76 · 29/01/2012 19:26

dingdong I will be checking in with you frequently! However, must remind myself that 'thrifty' is my buzz word and must not view this as an exercise to go on a shopping spree!!!

dingdong3 · 29/01/2012 20:30

Loving the first post scarlet. Your green jeans are yumm...looking good girl Smile

oooh, I love a good blog. This one isn't about mothers necessarily but I particularly like Advanced Style for the way the women on there celebrate life with fab clothes. I like to read WIT too but find it rather bland style-wise. The AS blog is so inspirational and it got me thinking about starting a blog myself: 40 something woman who is a mum who particularly loves vintage but doesn't want to look like she's playing dress-up. What do you think?

dingdong3 · 29/01/2012 20:31

Oh, and yes, my DH is much more approving of your thrifty approach! He's getting a bit worried that my shopping habit will get out of control now I've got a blog to think about...lol

scarlet76 · 30/01/2012 18:33

Lol dingdong promise him you will do a post on mens clothes at some point and get him a shirt!!
