My Christmas present this year from dh was £150 of John Lewis vouchers, I've got a bit extra, so maybe £200 to spend. I also now have a first class ticket to London (we live in Devon - a John lewis desert!) to spend it, but I have no idea what they have, as I've never bought clothes in there. Their website isn't much good, but I was wondering 'who' was there ifykwim or any recommendations. I'll be going to Oxford Street. [Am excited!]

Hello ponygirl. They've got alot of concessions in there and their own range has some nice things too. Off the top of my head French Connection, Coast, Fenwright and Manson, and loads and loads more. The lingerie section has some beautiful stuff too. Hope you have fun

Why don't you give them a ring and see if they have a personal shopper available to help you ??

spacecadet · 20/01/2006 10:34

hi, we have a john lewis in cambridge, they are also known as robert sayle, john lewis own waitrose.its a large department store which usually sells just about everything, they usually stock designer clothes etc, but are not usually franchised, you can buy anythiong from a washing machine to a needle and thread! lucky you im , enjoy your shopping trip!

Definitely use the personal shopper - free service and not at all scary. Good brands - inc MEXX, Coast, Principles, Hobbs. Also think about shoes, accessories or nice cosmetics. Lucky you!

I bought a beautiful dress from Coast in John Lewis - they have loads of lovely stuff. They also have 'high street shop' ranges eg Wallis and the like. Happy Shopping !

another vote for the personal shopper particularly if you want to buy clothes
I've never actually bought any clothesin there except a T shirt when I had to buy one in a hurry and bras - their lingerie dept is good and will measure you properly and stuff.
Have fun

Lady Sherlock - Oooooh! What a thought! What are they like? I'm easily intimidated by thin fashionable women (being neither!).

I have no idea, not being thin or fashionable or at the moment rich enough to shop at John Lewis

But.. for the price of a phone call........all they can do is say PISS ORF, get off my land or I will sic the dogs.............

Seriously though, if you are going to the trouble of going First Class, I really would ring them, they can only say no sorry we can't help on this occassion.

spacecadet · 20/01/2006 10:46

LGJ, i bet you are thin compared to me!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 20/01/2006 10:47

Issymum did the John Lewis personal shopper & I recall it was very successful - can't find the original thread but this one mentions it.

The basic JL style is classic/practical/non-flashy, but I can always find things I like there - children's clothes often good too (boys' & babies' better than girls' though).

Found the original thread, w/ other people recommending too: here
