Anyone had a sebaceous cyst treated?

I've got a very small one just above my eyebrow and I hate it. Have only found 1 clinic in my area so far and they charge £60 for advanced electrolysis treatment which is more than I can afford to pay at the moment.

I had one under my eye zapped (admittedly 15 years ago) and it cost less than a tenner and took about 20 seconds. I'd left this one for quite a while and it got quite big and unsightly so want to nip this in the bud quickly.

Has anyone got it done for cheaper or can recommend a clinic/salon in the Surrey/SW London area?

TIA

Have you asked at the GP? They might lance it on the NHS if you say it's a problem and is itchy / sore. I didn't know they could do electrolysis on them though Confused

i'd try the gp if i were you. i had a cyst removed by my gp (was a long time ago and was also on my breast so was sent away for testing), but i was looking at our local gp's website the other day and noticed they do a minor surgery clinic once a week for removal of skin lesions etc.

You should be able to get this done on the NHS. I've seen one done where it was slightly difficult to extract and it ended up flying across the room on exit!

The NHS should do this for you - sebaceous cysts shouldn't go untreated, and it is very distressing to have ugly things on your face. Ask your GP to refer you to a dermatologist at your local hospital.

Yes use GP. I haave one behind my ear that likes to abcess occasionly. I have been told if it causes too much problems they'll remove it instead of just apirating it.

Thanks everyone. I completely forgot I'd posted this, so sorry I haven't come back sooner.

I've got to see the GP next week so I'll ask him.

House of Bamboo, yep I know electrolysis sounds weird

I think they use the current from the needle to damage the wall that protects the cyst so they can squeeze out the contents. It forms a scab and then heals without leaving a scar like lancing would. It's only suitable for small ones though.

Bonsoir Grin It's not really that ugly, yet.
