Anyone found a product that works?
I tried Clearanail for ages and it didn't.

Anyone?
Don't want to take systemic meds.

I've had the best success with ClearZal (which is a liquid so you can get it under the toenail) and a paint on one (which I did every night, filing as necessary [barf]).

I also have an infected big toe nail but am pregnant so would need something suitable for pregnancy/ breastfeeding.

I took the tablets a few years ago - my course was only 3 months though I think. They have never quite been the same since but they are soooo much better than before and as long as I look after them and let them breathe over the winter with no nail varnish, they look perfectly normal. They are always going to be a bit weaker than normal I think, especially the big toe nail.

My DH has had terrible trouble with toenail fungus for many years - everything failed to work. Until ...

I read on the internet that white distilled vinegar will get rid of nail fungus - and it really does (and it's much cheaper than the commercial "cures"). It's also worked on my thumb nails which for some reason also developed the problem (and no I hadn't been lovingly stroking DH's yucky toenails!). Twice a day either drop vinegar around and under the nail (if you can let it dry in it's especially helpful), or I suppose you could paint it on with an old nail varnish brush. For my thumb nails I put vinegar in a plastic bottle top and held my nails in for 30 seconds twice a day.

We have been amazed at the results - as have other people we have told. You need to keep up the treatment though until you are absolutely sure it's gone.

I also cured mine with Vicks. I was very sceptical but had tried the paint on treatment with no success so tried Vicks as a last resort. I had had problems with fungal infections for years before this (on both big toe nails).

I put it on every night before bed - wearing socks so that I could apply a thick layer - and it worked over the course of a few months. This was a couple of years ago and I haven't had any problems since.

I've noticed that patients with a resolved fungal nail tend to have a tendency to get a curved nail, it bends down into the flesh as it gets longer. It doesnt always happen but does seem more likely.

Hoping to revive this thread, I need to do something about my big toenail which apparently has a fungus ... Has anyone tried laser surgery?

this laser clinic website says it's about 72% effective compared with 20-40% for topical treatments and around 60% for tablets... God, they're not very good odds are they?? Confused

Don't think laser treatment is very widespread which worries me because if it's so great then why isn't everyone getting it done Hmm
