Dresses...

My dd asked me this morning why I don't ever wear dresses ( as a 6 year old she would love mummy to put on a dress just like her). I do have dresses' it's just that they are all for 'posh' (lk Bennett davina/coast). And I think that's the problem, I see dresses for going out. I think I would feel over dressed in a dress for the school/nursery mum and being at home with a baby. Anyone else have this problem?

I know you all rave about knitted and wrap dresses on here but I have a paranoia about my bum and don't like anything clinging to it ( it really does stick out). Other than that I'm a size 10, 5'4 with the usual mum tum after 3 dc and a cool summer. I also have a long body in proportion to my legs so dresses with a 'waist' don't often sit in the right place.

I'm great at shopping for other stuff for myself, even skirts but at day dresses I draw a blank. Any suggestions of anything that won't make me feel overdressed...?

I wear dresses pretty much every day. Can't remember the last time I wore trousers or jeans.

I am just over 5 foot and a size 12 (could do with slimming down to a 10 though).

My current day dresses are from DP, Next and White Stuff. I tend to chose dresses that are a bit more fitted at the top, and then less so below the waist.

Hula baby please can you do a couple if links to dresses you've got? I'm also crap with dresses but would like to be more girly

ive got this one on today here Its definitely just a case of finding a more casual style that you feel comfortable in. This shape works well for me for daytime with knee high boots . Great PLains have lots of less formal dresses

Can't get links I don't think as was in DP before the got their new stock in. They are a bit like some of the circular or ponte dresses - fitted on top, round necks, fitted arms of varying lengths and then flared skirts, above knee. In purple, greens and blues - all one colour each.
Also have a shift type dress in black, white and purple from there.
And a couple of more dressy ones - similar styles but with choffony type material over top of skirt and for sleeves. Harder to describe.

White stuff ones are very typicl White Stuff style. Just above knee. A bit straighter but no fitted skirt. Round neck.

Wear them all with thick tights and long black boots at present.
