Where to shop for wedding outfits for ds (14) and ds (10)?

OK, we have a wedding to go to in April. My dd is flower girl so her outfit is taken care of but I need to find something for both ds. They are happy to go smart but torn between buying and hiring. That said, some of the hire options look a bit dull - any ideas?

I had this issue is October for my 2 (10 and 13) We werent part of the Bridal Party so I felt smart rather than formal was fine. Plus I think the overly formal stuff looks a bit silly on boys that age, ok on little ones.

For the 10yo we went to Debenhams and got black trousers (like black chinos) and a lovely black and white checked shirt with a skinny black tie.

My 13yo is man sized so kids depts were out and gents depts were extortionate, considering he would never ever wear it again! We ended up in TK Maxx where I picked up Donna Karan Black smart chinos/trousers for £20 and a lovely black and white stripe shirt also DKNY. He too wore a skinny black tie.

Everyone commented on how smart they looked but they didnt look OTT or uncomfortable

They managed to wear the shirts again to Xmas parties btw

I have seen nice boy's wedding stuff at next and John Lewis, like linen suits, not too expensive.

My advice for anyone - adult or child is not to buy 'wedding clothes' full stop and just get something in your usual style on the smarter end of the spectrum. I think it would be fine for older kids to wear casual trousers or even smart jeans ( others will disagree I know) and a shirt. The sort of thing they might wear again at a family meal out for example.

If you do that you can shop pretty much anywhere.

agree with PrimaBallerina - don't buy "wedding outfits". The offerings for boys are generally spectacularly naff.

Last year my eldest (11) wore navy blue chinos with a striped polo shirt and Converse. Youngest (7) wore beige linen trousers with a pale blue & white striped cotton shirt and Converse.

Agree Tk maxx got my DS's nice trousers & shirts - Ralph Lauren & DKNY. Bargain and they looked smart. House of Fraser could be worth a try as they've a good sale on.

thanks all - think I am in a non-formal place now as it seems such a waste if they never wear it again. My eldest lives in 'skinny' jeans so I didn't think flappy smart trousers were going to appeal Smile. Off to find trousers and shirts instead. Thanks again
