Home hair colour novice..recommend me a home dye please

I have had my bleach highlights coloured to a medium brown at the hairdressers and am now looking for a home hair dye for upkeep to save me the expense of going to a salon (have been spending loads on my highlights and fed up with the cost!).

I think i should be looking for a light brown colour (I'm terrified it will go too dark cos of the bleach in my hair under the salon brown colour). My current brown has a very very slight red tone in bright light.

Can anyone recommend a good home hair dye (is the casting creme gloss any good?) that will make my hair lovely and shiny and not too dark? Hairdresser advised a semi as opposed to a permeant dye.

I have used L'Oreal Recital Preference for as long as I care to remember. My hair is light brown with quite a lot of autumn and I tend to use a dark blonde/honey colour (a couple of shades lighter than my natural colour). This gives it a lift but the roots aren't really obvious.

I have tried other dyes, but always come back to L'Oreal because the quality is very good and I've never had a nasty surprise with the shades.

Yes, go with a semi. I don't use box dyes, but have heard from friends that the mousse dyes are rather good. The colour will grab where your highlights are but there is little you can do about that. As your hair has been partially bleached go for ammonia free dye as one containing ammonia will damage your hair.

I use Naturtint. No ammonia, parabens or rosorcinol. It lasts for ages and is kind to your hair. It doesn't smell foul like other colourants. Whatever you choose -- ALWAYS do a strand test

I use Superdrug own brand. It doesn't drip everywhere and the colour comes out lovely and rich. Also, it isn't tested on animals.
