Which Parlux please?

DH has kindly offered to buy me a Parlux for my birthday. I have lots of long, fine hair which takes a while to dry. I'm a bit confused by the different wattages etc. Is the highest the best necessarily? Also from searching previous threads there seems to be some thoughts that the compact models are best avoided. They seem to mostly be compacts though...

Can anyone recommend one for me and advise what I need? I don't want to make a mistake with something so expensive. We'll be buying off amazon if that helps.

I've had the 3200 compact for about 4-5 years now, it's brilliant. My sister, who came to stay recently, actually went and bought her own after borrowing it when she was here. I don't see any issue with the compact versions as the larger ones are quite big - my hairdresser has one and it's pretty big. I don't know about the wattages but the 3200 is more than adequate for me and I have very thick, coarse hair.

I have the same one as violet BUT you need to make sure you are careful with the heat as they are VERY powerful and I have ended up with split ends for the first time in my life, so I only use the medium setting for drying with a round brush. It's either the Parlux or the crappy Babyliss Big hair, which I have Tried to like, but it's shit

Look around for good deals as I got mine for £55 on line - bargain!

Thanks. Where was yours from Valium? I'm thinking of getting this one.

I think the lime green will grow on me Smile but I'd rather pay £55!!

Do not get a Parlux - they are crap and not worth the money. I bought one of these (Parlux 3500 compact). It packed up after less than a year of use (lost power, weird burning smell) and the seller (Health and Beauty Wear) refused to take it back. Apparently, as they are meant for salons where they will be used up to 10 times a day, they are only guaranteed for 6 months after purchase. I now have a Babyliss Salon Light 2100 that I got at John Lewis - it was a third of the price of the Parlux one, does all the same things, is just as powerful and it's guaranteed for 5 years!

MIne came with a 2 year guarantee and it's fantastic. Think you ended up with a dud one! If they are deigned for salon use they will cope with domestic use with no problems.

wellwisher · 21/01/2012 16:39

That's what I thought... but at that price even a 2 year guarantee is pretty poor. If Babyliss can offer a 5 year guarantee surely Parlux should be able to do the same? My last (cheap) dryer before the crappy Parlux one lasted 5 years!

I will be quoting the sales of goods act at them if it breaks!
