Swimsuit for large-ish boobs?

I just want a simple, plain black swimsuit, but as i'm 34E, I do need underwiring and/or decent support. Bravissimo only seem to do swimsuits with 'bra backs' which i'm not keen on, or halter necks which i'm not sure will give enough support, or fairly loud prints.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where I might find such a thing? Would prefer classic black but would consider a fairly low-key patttern or other dark colour.

Would obviously be happy with something cheaper, but am happy to splash the cash a bit if it's a really decent swimsuit that will last me a good while.

Thanks in advance! Smile

Bravissimo do a Zoggs costume that has neither a bra back or a halter neck. It's not the sort of costume that I'd choose for lounging by the pool or on the beach but is great for the swimming baths.

I've got a bigger cup size than you and find it offers great support.

Starshaped · 20/01/2012 09:45

Sorry, meant to say that it's mostly black with a flash of blue and green, so pretty understated. It was in the last catalogue so should still be in stock.

I have a fairly large bust and prefer the bra-back style, but I had an accident early last year which meant that I couldn't do up the clips properly, so I had to get a new suit. I got one by Zoggs, it has a soft bust support which I have found quite good. I got it from Bravissimo, but www.simplyswim.com has a bigger range.

Try figleaves. I've just got a couple of bikinis from there in my bra size. Not sure about swimsuits but it's worth checking out.

Dollydowser · 20/01/2012 10:39

I have had a few of these over the years. Great support, quite thick fabric that holds you in. I'm glad you asked because now I've looked I see they are discontinuing them!

CoffeeMum · 20/01/2012 11:17

Thanks all. Dollydowser, that looks ideal actually, but they don't seem to have them in my size, and I suppose if they're being discontinued, they're not likely to now! Sad

Queen Cadbury - yes, I never have any trouble with getting bikinis, but i think i'd like a swimsuit now as it's that little bit more forgiving [ahem] and a bit more practical for taking the DC to the swimming pool.

WhendoIsleep and starshaped, thank you - i had seen that one in the bravissimo catalogue and rejected it for it's lack of underwiring. See, i really do need the underwiring! However, if you rate it, I may look at in 'in the flesh'. I'm going near a shop this weekend, so will check it out then. It is a little sportier than I would have liked, but it's good to have it as an option.

thanks everyone Smile

I have a zoggs soft cup one which has been fantastic. Its for swimming NOT glamour but holds me up and in well. I'm a FF. Got it from Bravissimo. Oh and if its for swimming, worth looking in the clearance section.
I also have a Toast halter neck, retro kind of cossie for the beach etc. It covers all, is comfy, looks good and is up to sandcastle building and gentle messing about with 4 year old but probably not beach volley ball!

CoffeeMum in my experience with trying to find a suitable swimsuit (for actual swimming rather than beach lazing) that it is very hard when you have a larger bust and I don't think that I have ever seen an underwired suit without a bra back. I really do prefer that style myself (being a 36J cup), but I had to switch due to injury and have worn the Zoggs for a year now and it really is quite supportive.

I'm not sure if it is the exact same one that Bravissimo currently has, but they generally stock a similar style each season. One of the big plus points with the suit I have is that it has adjustable shoulder straps, which help with the supportivness factor. I have recently being trying to find a new suit (currently 6 months pg) and have found that suits without the adjustable straps are dire in the support department.

I also think that it is worth investing a little more money (or finding a bargin in a sale) to get a good suit. Depending on how much you use it and how well you care for it, I tend to find that you can get a good few years wear out of it.

CoffeeMum · 20/01/2012 13:48

Okay, thanks, you are convincing me! I daren't risk buying it online, but I will definitely try it on instore - sometimes sizes come up bigger/smaller too don't they? Maybe if I like it, it'll end up being my functional swimsuit, and i'll just do sit ups and wear my bikini for holidays etc. Thanks for your help Smile

this company seem to have lots of underwired swimsuits...have been looking but haven't ordered anything yet so have no idea about quality or service though.

Piffpaffpoff · 20/01/2012 16:22

I just got this, it's not the most glamourous thing I've ever seen but it is super comfy to swim in and copes well with my 38E norks.

bruffin · 20/01/2012 16:31

what about this or any of these

CoffeeMum · 21/01/2012 08:10

Thanks for further replies. Piffpaffpoff - I bet that is really comfy, but is a little bit sporty for my purposes. I think I am the least sporty person in the world, ever, so me wearing that would be laughable!
Bruffin -i think we have a winner, i really, really like that plain black Speedo one, just what i'm after. Only trouble is, it doesn't sell in cup sizes does it? Just bust measurements and i'm not actually sure what mine is! Perhaps I will come back later having measured myself and see what the returns policy is for that website. Thank you!
