Mum is 64, has nice slim legs, a good décolletage (:) ) and a rounded tummy that she hates. She's 5ft3 and has beautiful shiny grey hair. She tends to wear trousers or long floaty skirts which I think don't do her any favours. So today I made her try on v necked knee length wrap type dresses in soft jersey material. We bought this (I know it's per una but actually it looks lovely on with knee length black boots) dress
What do you think? and can I have more suggestions of what you or your mums look nice in?

If she has good legs I would suggest skinny jeans (they don't have to look too young) or cigarette pants with a silk blouse or long cashmere jumper.

Something like this or this

The White Company normally do really good basic dresses that are ageless. I would stick to quite a streamlined look but nothing too clingy around the middle - keep hair really stylish and have immaculate make-up. I would keep the clothes to a fairly neutral palate then add bright printed scarves or a fab tailored jacket.

Look at ideas number one and three here but imagine number three with this top instead!

Am imagining your Mum like this

Ah I think mum would love to be Helen mirrenish. She bought a long line knitted tunic and leggings last week so on track there. Will suggest skinny jeans and pumps tomorrow although not sure if she will struggle as she needs a 16 for her tummy but probably has a size 10 person's legs.

French Connection do a lot of denim legging type things. I have some as I don't always want to see by belt (and I kept getting holes in my jumper from them!!) My pair have a wide waistband and a side zip so they are very supportive but skinny in the leg. I have a friend who sounds just like your mum sizewise and she got a similar pair from M&S. Think jeggings!!

I'm a similar age to your Mum and I have quite a few jersey dresses from Phase8 and Boden. I would advise her to stick to tailored jackets and trousers and step away from anything floaty. Get some well fitting jeans (levis curve are great) and fitted shirts, wear with heals or boots. That dress you've linked too is alright but I find per una are usually to be avoided at all costs. LK Bennett have some nice dresses in their outlet at the moment so they might be worth a look.

My Mum is similar and wears knitted dresses and leggings (some from White Stuff), long suede skirts and thick knitted cardi's that are fitted, sort of fit & flare style (Monsoon usually). She would find skinny jeans uncomfortable, I got her some Levi's for her 70th birthday which fit well, sorry I can't remember what number but for Levi's they were realtively high waist and comfy at the waist but good round the bum and legs.

She does seem to feel the cold far more than me, maybe an age thing, so she couldn't wear e.g. just a shirt unless high summer, she has a tonne of nicely fitting cashmere jumpers (go with the jeans/skirts).
