I use Aussie 3minute miracle, it says to leave on for 3 minutes but my hairdresser told me to put it on last thing at night, wrap hair in a towel, and then wash off the next morning.

It makes my very dry, frizzy hair lovely, shiny and manageable!

ButHeNeverDid · 15/01/2012 10:26

Thanks. But ideally, I am after something that you can put on dry hair that does not need to get washed off.

Vitapoint is something my mum used in the 70s to tame her hair between hair washes. And I was hoping that someone as discovered a newer product.

Try the 'no frizz' range by Living Proof. They have a restyling spray you can put on dry hair. You can buy it at SpaceNK. Expensive but unbelievably good. I use their shampoo, conditioner and styling creams and my hair has never looked or felt better.

I just use a curl cream. Vitapoint still for sale, saw it in morrisons the other week. Must try it again as I love the smell Smile

I use Vitapointe as well, although it's an old brand it's still one of the best products out there for frizzy hair! I've seen it online, only a few quid so worth trying ; )

Elvive extraordinary oil. I use this on my hair when wet before styling and also between washes if the ends are looking dry. It is fab and smells lovely too.

Superdrug sell vitapoint.

HazeltheMcWitch · 22/11/2012 13:04

Vitapoint still wins beauty awards!

I like Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance - a leave-in spray. It says to use on damp hair after washing, but I also use on dry hair. My hair type is wavy/frizzy (caucasian). A mixed-race friend with afro-carribean hair recommended it to me, she uses it sometimes between wash days. Hence it seems to be o on more than one hair type.

L'Oreal Elvive Extrodiary Hair Oil - better than Argan oil imo.

valiumredhead · 22/11/2012 13:27

Sorry, mrsR beat me to it! Grin

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 22/11/2012 13:33

moroccan argon oil. I swear my seriously damaged returned to blonde via colour b4 and other bleach based products my hair was shocking.

Now its lovely luscious locks and its in great condition.

I tried all the Aussie stuff, pantene etc etc and none of them have been as good.

I use Umberto Giannini Overnight Beauty Moisture Balm. Just slather a bit on before bed and wake up with shiny locks. Not too pricy either (around a fiver, IIRC)

Thanks for some of these products recommendations. I'm trying to stay away from silicones products since reading they make the frizz worse long term, anyone know which ones of these haven't got silicone?

Misspage · 20/09/2022 16:51

vitapoint has been discontinued and ONLY AVAILABLE on remote websites at a ridiculous cost!
Please can someone come up with a sensible suitable alternative? Thank you

Givemesunshines · 20/09/2022 17:20

I use hair silk from e salon , online.

As usual, late to the festivities. American attempting to find effective alternative to discontinued Clairol Vitapointe.

Grandmother would copiously slather on the miracle cream and comb through locks - before tasking me with setting her hair (No, not on fire) on plastic or foam curlers to include use of tissue endpapers before the “roll”. Once out of her rickety bonnet hairdryer, and with precious little finger combing to merge the sections, she beamed with a perfectly lively and behaved, glistening, million-dollar coiffure.

Between washes, small amounts of Clairol Vitapointe could be brushed through without fear of introducing too much water that would lead to frizziness.

Alberto VO5 hairdressing was employed much the same after and between shampoos with good results; however, it restricted movement of the strands.

As I’ve become my grandmother, albeit with significantly more tress length than her chic bob (ergo a dangerously frizz-prone mass of strands), saying, “I need help”, is an understatement.

Having tried oh so many fabulous (just not for me) products, I remain convinced that the original Vitapointe formula is the gold standard for my mixed-mixed, hopefully crowning glory!

Seeking viable leave-in and leave-on alternative that may be applied to DRY hair to impart luster, movement , and moisture sans frizz!
