Please help me decide on capsule wardrobe for weekend abroad to scatter Dad's ashes.

Going to Spain next weekend to scatter my father's ashes in the sea. Will be going straight from airport to do this, then next day a champagne and tapas style affair at a restaurant with 30-40 people.

Flying hand luggage only. Would love to look nice for my father (even though I know he can't see me) Was thinking skinny jeans, patent black ballet pumps, neutral top and black cardi with mumsnet scarf to travel then same shoes, black jumper dress and scarf for restaurant.

Does this sound respectful enough? No experience of this sort of thing really, last funeral I went to was when I was about 18.

I am not stylish so can't suggest anything but I think it sounds lovely.

Some jewellery for the restaurant perhaps?

I think that sounds a great combination - very stylish and respectful to stick to black and neutrals

Something that makes you feel fantastic but without needing 'effort'. What you suggest sounds ideal, but I agree about some jewellery - is there something you love or that is very 'you' that you can add. I found the ashes thing rather more of a struggle than I expected so it would be good to feel well turned out and relaxed. Good luck

Thanks for the replies.

I have just ordered some black cropped skinny trousers I can wear to travel in instead of jeans. Would probably be more comfy in jeans but somehow feel a bit disrespectful saying goodbye to my father in them!

That way I also have a choice of outfit for the 'wake' the next day too.

Will take some nice jewellery with me to wear instead of scarf, thanks for the advice.
