Be as honest as you like - I can take these ones back so if you hate them please say.

I know geek chic is in for glasses but I think they might be too big and black. I only wear them for reading and computer, so they will not be my all day, everyday look.

Thank you!

nice glasses, nice shape, black is good. They are indeed too big for your (beautiful) face though.

I have these they look brown but are grey IRL. Totally different to what you have but I think you might like the style. I'm pretty sure this sort of style would bring out your cheek bones a treat.

They made me think of Velma from scooby doo, which I guess is geek chic!

Warning, do not google images of Velda whilst your dcs are in the vicinity, it would seem a lot of people find geek chic rather appealing in a not very scooby fashion.

AWimbaWay · 13/01/2012 16:45

Velma, don't know who Velda is, perhaps I'll google that instead.

You look lovely yourself, and I think the style is good for you, but agree that they are too big. They just need scaling down so there's not so much empty lens at beyond the outer edges of your eyes.

ouryve · 13/01/2012 16:51

I think they look great, but i suspect they might be heavy and feel too uncomfortable to wear all the time. (has 2 gorgeous pairs of specs that only get work for a few hours at a time, for this reason)

ouryve · 13/01/2012 16:55

worn, not work. I can't even blame an iphone.

emrys · 13/01/2012 16:56

ooh Hetty I love those, and Mi4 those do look stunning on the model. I can't quite imagine them on me but will give them a try. Thank you for the ideas!

I've deleted the pics - sorry! Didn't fancy exposing my face to a friday night on MN :)

I had some bigger ones until a couple of months ago, when i had to get new ones, but i got mine from the nhs range, which is much better than they used to be. If you want to look at the new and old ones of mine they are on my profile. The new ones are the top pic, and the older bigger ones are about the 5th pic down, I am sitting with ds2.

If you don't qualify for free ones, they are £50, which I think is pretty good really.

I need them for reading and close up stuff, I can't even read something at arms length nowadays, but I also have another pair for long distance and driving, though I am still legal to drive without them, but I find it helps when dark or being tired.

I love having 2 different looks and love wearing glasses, I would never consider contacts.

Hi Lou33, sorry for not replying earlier, I don't come on here much. Thanks for the tips. You look great in your glasses, esp your newest pair. I've been to a few more opticians now and am leaning towards the smaller, slightly upswept style that someone recommended upthread. They definitely suit me better. As cool as big heavy geek glasses look on some people I can't pull them off!

Good news, finding the right pair is really important I think, or else you can feel really self conscious and uncomfortable.
