Colouring curly hair - dos and don'ts pls

My hair is long and naturally very curly, but looks rubbish just now as I am 15 weeks pregnant. I have been using home colourants to blend in grey which until recently has been sufficient but I have developed a fetching Cruella Deville style grey streak about 2 inches wide at the front which I feel ages me 10 years and home colouring just doesn't touch it. I haven't had my hair professionally coloured in years and my hairdresser is doing a January offer which seems too good to refuse!

My natural colour is dark brown (Cruella streak aside) and I'd love to have some caramel/toffee tones added but don't know if that works well on curls? I just want my hair to look shiny and healthy and to lose the afore mentioned streak, what should I ask for?

PS I have responsibly verfied with my hairdresser that the colours she uses are safe in pregnancy.

Am a bit confused as to why you think that would not work well on curls.. I have naturally curly hair and can't say I've ever given having it coloured/highlighted a second thought. The only thing I'd suggest is that because curly hair is often drier than straight hair, make sure your colourist doesn't use any tint with a bleach base.

Personally I'd recommend a lovely glossy vegetable rinse as that's the kindest, safest way of colouring your hair but a good colourist will know what will work best for you/your hair.
