Has anyone had microdermabrasion or anything else successful for acne scars?

I've finally found a routine which keeps my acne at bay. You think after 30 years this would have happened a lot sooner...but unfortunately I have PCOS so its been a constant battle. Now my skin is much clearer I'm depressingly left with lots of acne scars on my cheeks. Has anyone had any treatment to successfully reduce/remove these? Many thanks

I had bad acne and was put on roaccutaine, wich did the job. A nurse at the hospital suggested I get sunburnt once whilst on it as it would be like a chemical peel and get rid of my scarring. It was grim but worked amazingly. I went from lots of scars (consultant said I would have permanent scarring) to none.

Obviously roaccutaine wouldn't be suitable if your acne under control (well done!), but maybe a chemical peel?

Yes, I've had microdermabrasion for acne scarring and it worked a treat. Very relaxing experiencing

Look into Dermaroller also, and IPL (intense pulsed light). If all else fails and you are not needle phobic and money isn't a huge issue, of course you can have fillers.

I have the same issues as you, my skin is currently the best it's ever been due to being on a very good skincare regime. Also have PCOS so it's an ongoing battle.

Have a look at www.acne.org, it has a brilliant review section which details pretty much every scar treatment there is, different treatments work better for different types of scars. You need to identify which type(s) of scarring you have and then look into which treatment would be most effective.

It is my aim for 2012 to begin treatment for my scars, my confidence is zero because of them :(

Thanks so much everyone for the brilliant advice, I really appreciate it. Fingers crossed to a flawless 2012!

Ohthisisjustgrape, I hope you find a solution too and rebuild your confidence x
