Please help - bored of same old uniform.

Bored, bored, bored of wearing the same old uniform of dull, dark colours. I wear Jeans (sometimes skinny, sometimes bootcut) and a top (sometimes black, sometimes brown, occasionaly purple!!) and I am bored of it all. My wardrobe is a sea of dark, miserable colours and boring styles.

Please help me! I am a SAHM so feel I don't have anything to dress up for (unlike when I used to work and felt nice putting something new on and going to work looking smart). I walk my eldest to school (so my outfit has to be suitable for walking and awful weather) but my youngest is still at the stage where I usually have biscuit on my shoulder or banana down my leg.

What do I wear and where do I look for it??? I feel I've lost all sense of style and fun and COLOUR!!

Thanks muchly xx

What about a good scarf,I like leopard print with black or brown, and a florally one with purples.
Also a good belt,chunky jewellery,maybe a cardigan?
I always wear make up too.

Thanks for your reply Georgina. I do have lots of cardigans - but I've somehow managed to fill my wardrobe with only brown and black cardigans! How did this happen?! I think you're probably right though - chunky jewellery and make up would probably help.

I would like to know what other people are buying and where from? I've lost all confidence in my shopping ability and don't know where to start! IT doesn't help that I'm usually with kids or on a tight timescale...

You need accessories - scarves, necklaces, bracelets. You dotn have to spend a fortune.

Step away from the dark colours. Promise yourself the next 3 items you buy will be a bright colour or at least a print/pattern. Bright cardis are good for beginners Grin.

Have you tried the casual dress over thick tights/leggings with flat boots look? It flatters many shapes and sizes and is a good alternative to jeans and tops. And you dont have to go for a dressy look.

Uniqlo is fantastic for really good quality basics in a range of colours - they're online or even better if you can go in and try things on.

I would start with 2 x brightly coloured long-sleeve t-shirts (less than a tenner each) and 2 x also brightly coloured merino jumpers (£30 each or less) Smile

It can change your whole mood to wear a bright, new colour... do give it a shot, you won't regret it!

I'd still stick with black/brown cardigans, I think-but get some brighter coloured fitted tops. I often wear short sleeved tunics with a long sleeved tight white top underneath which is a nice layered (and warm) look. A few nice-coloured (but not too patterned as then they don't go with anything) scarves and necklaces are good, too. Flat boots to wear with leggings/dresses or tops/denim skirts is another popular look here. It's tempting to always wear the same thing, but as long as what you're wearing is comfortable, you will feel better for it!

Why not start off by having a plan to get you started, eg
Monday-bootcut jeans,top, scarf and boots
Tuesday-leggings/dress/flat boots
Wednesday-skinny jeans, boots, layered tops
Thursday-etc

I like H+M for basic t-shirts as they are stretchy and fit well underneath things. I also like Joe Browns for tunics/dresses.
