First post in S&B although I have neither.

I would love to wear lipstick all the time. But every time I put it on I feel the urge to wipe it off as I can 'feel' it on my lips. IYKWIM
The other problem is that it starts to dry and it goes into lines on my lips.

So I am 40+ and would love to wear a natural/pinky matt lipstick which doesn't feel like it's on and stays put. Any suggestions? TIA.

Oh no. You don't think 40+ ladies need lipstick do you? Sad Grin

Id say get to a Bobbi Brown counter, her philosophy is look like yourself but prettier, so no scary colours at all. Dont buy the Lip Colour though, its quite matte , go for the Creamy Lip Colour, lovely moisturising texture in some great natural shades

Thank you Gilly. We have a Debenhams, Boots and House of Fraser-will I find one there? It's my New Years Resolution to look a bit more glam. Grin

Maybeline super stay is very light, I don't feel it.

Gillybobs · 06/01/2012 16:03

Not sure, House of Fraser most likely but Id phone ahead and ask. The website is excellent too but trying is obviously best...here

Bobbi Brown are an excellent counter for natural groomed make up, they will answer any questions you have no problem and I dont find them too hard sell at all

benefit posie tint is quite nice. natural colour and you don't feel it

Sparklingbrook · 06/01/2012 16:06

Sparklingbrook - same here, i rarely put it on and always take it straight back off again. Might have a look at the benefit counter.

cocobongo · 06/01/2012 17:35

don't use the benefit tints, i find them really drying on my lips. the one thing guaranteed to get my lips dry and flaky.plus dries into lines on my lips.

Sparklingbrook · 06/01/2012 17:38

Thanks. I'm not the only one who 'feels' lipstick. Thought I was odd. Grin. the drying into lines is horrible, then it comes off in bits. (Hope that's not just me).

I am in the decade above you and have a nice lipstick called "Breathless" by Elizabeth Arden. Their consultant told me it has been going for many years which is always a good sign of being timeless and useable and it is just a nice wearable natural pinky shade.

valiumredhead · 06/01/2012 18:01

I will never waste my money on BeneSHIT again -been stung once too often.

OP what about a cross between a gloss and a lipstick? I find that sort feels nicer than a traditional lippy.

Sparklingbrook · 06/01/2012 18:08

Not sure about the gloss bit valium. Worried about stickiness. Will I want to wipe it all off with the back of my hand? Grin
