Help. Afternoon tea at Brown's Hotel today - what do I wear?

I have the perfect floral tea dress and pale satin shoes for afternoon tea in the summer but have no idea what to wear at this time of year.

Got: a royal blue wrap dress, mid calf
Or: A midnight blue knee length dress which is a bit like the one Kate Middleton wore when she got engaged to William.
Or: the floral summer dress - wear it anyway.
Or a floaty grey silk skirt with beads (nicer than it sounds) - but usually wear in the evening so have mainly black tops to go with it.
Trouser suit? It's black. Plenty of teal or deep lilac tops that can go with it.

I don't own a blouse. Now realise it would help if I did...

What shoes? My shoes are useless. Tart's heels or frumpy office flats. The one pair I had and loved need re-heeling. I wore them down to the metal stub.

TMI. Sorry. Panicking a bit. This is a very important occasion and I want to look like I made the effort.

the second blue dress sounds lovely. Channel Kate Middleton and you can't go wrong. Tart's heels probably better than frumpy flats, as long as they aren't clear plastic stripper platforms...

Thanks, Wellwisher. DH said the same.

Only just seen your post, how was tea? I had afternoon tea at The Savoy before Christmas and wore a Boden wool dress. It was so bloody freezing in there, I kept my scarf on and the waiter brought us both pashminas to wrap up in!

It was gorgeous! Celebrating a very good work deal with a friend, who I'd helped with the deal. It's so relaxing in there. Glad I went for the blue dress. People weren't too dressed up.

What's tea at the Savoy like? (Apart from freezing.)

Savoy was lovely, very attentive staff. I love afternoon tea, my favourite so far has been The Landmark, with its glass roof and palm trees (and the best cakes). Smile
