Is it ever worth going to T and G or is it just the same result paying a fiver up the road?

Definitely not worth it unless they want a very trendy style Grin
Perhaps go to a 'normal' salon but maybe get your DC to take a cut out of the hair cut they want, so they have something to work to?

workshy · 04/01/2012 23:58

no more than £10

boys it grows too fast and girls tend to spend half their lives with hair bobbles and clips in so T&G seems a waste of money IMO

When ds was 6, I had some clippers, so nothing. Now I pay a fiver each trim (ds and dds - although they are a lot older than that) although I realise that's probably quite a bargain.

I pay a fortune at the same hairdresser that I go to for DD (7), and have done for the last three years. Her hair is long and fine and really needs a proper cut that doesn't leave horrible scissor marks. She goes about 2x a year.

My silly phone has posted this thread twice!! Im sorry.

I pay £7 and don't expect it to be brilliant.

BITCAT · 05/01/2012 00:23

5pound..all she has is a trim. If i take her at the same time as my other dd then they usually do hers for 3/4 quid. I do my younger sons myself with a set of clippers..that i bought last year at a sale in asda...20quid but its more than paid for itself

Nagoo · 05/01/2012 00:29

Less than £10.

And TBH they did a shit job, I tried a few places, and now I do it myself as I do a better job. I have a boy. I cut the back and sides with clippers and scissor the top.

I've noticed that my hairdresser does children's cuts for £8 so I could take him there, but actually I'm quite good at it, and it's fun for me to cut it.

He doesn't look like him mum cuts his hair, honestly.

In Denial

BITCAT · 05/01/2012 00:40

haha Nagoo i like it..i just shave my ds with a 2 in the winter all over and a 1 in the summer..then tidy up with the clippers round the ears and neck line. It suits him shaved unlike my 13yr old ds who doesnt suit and likes his own style..they get very fussy as they get older.

HerRoyalNotness · 05/01/2012 00:57

DS is $25 plus tip. We've been taking him to my hairdresser since he was 18mths, (now 4.5yo) when he had his first cut. He has lovely thick hair and we get it styled. To be fair he only gets it cut 3-4 times per year, we let it grow quite long in between as he suits it.

Sluttybuttons · 05/01/2012 01:11

My children get theirs done free whenever i get mine done, but i have somebody come to the house and she does theirs while in waiting on my dye. I pay £35 for cut and colour and get dd1 and dt2 done for free. dt1 is still waiting on her first ever haircut lol

RainboweBrite · 05/01/2012 10:44

I pay £5.50 for my DS, but if I had a DD, up to £10 seems reasonable.

katkitya · 05/01/2012 11:13

I wonder how 12 is the cut off age at T and G?

OP posts:
WheresTheCat · 05/01/2012 11:20

I pay £12 for DD's a couple of times a year, mainly because it's curly and a bit wild! Smile

Christmasford · 05/01/2012 11:26

I cut DS myself...he is 5 and has it styled by me. I am not one for shaving his entire mop as I don't like the look personally and he wanted to look like doctor who, so it took a bit of effort! But I am getting better at it. Dd gets hers trimmed for free when I go for a cut.

pollyblue · 05/01/2012 11:59

My 5yo DD has hers cut (chin length bob) by the hairdresser who does mine - it's £6 for a dry cut, damp down and blow dry. I think that's pretty reasonable.

Northumberlandlass · 05/01/2012 12:14

DS comes with me to my salon (quite fancy). Only because he wanted to grow his hair long & the barbers didn't do a good job cutting it into a 'style'. He gets it washed, cut & dried for £10.

I haven't asked what the child cut off age is, he is only 8.
