a question for hair colour experts

I have black hair and was hoping to lighten it a bit without damaging it. In the past I used to use a spray in bleach and blowdry to,lighten. But a few yrs ago I suffered from chronic hair loss and am now scared of damaging it so that it may fall again
. It's now back to normal.
Someone suggested lowlights, but I'm wary as I wonder how damaging it will be to strip the colour. So,I've picked up a box of clairol nice n easy...in dark brown . A nice chocolatey colour with no hint of red in the photo. The question is, will that damage my hair,? It contains ammonia and peroxide. So now I'm wary about using it .... Anyone know what percentage of peroxide?

yr thoughts please?
Thanks

I don't think it will do much to naturally black hair tbh, other than give it a bit of a chocolatey tinge in the light perhaps.

If you want to lighten black hair to any very noticeable degree, you are going to need bleach (ie, a trip to the hairdresser)

However, I'm sure it won't damage un-dyed hair at all, it might turn out lovely, just not very noticeable.
