petite skinny woman needs 'a bra that's not a bra'

Anyone else like me, boyish figure and doesn't need a bra as such but would like to wear something 'up top' for a bit of comfort. Many years ago I could find little 'crop tops' the size of a bra/bikini top but stitched softly more like a vest. Nowhere seems to sell them anymore and my last one is being worn to death - please help if you can!!!

This kind of underwear is none of my business, but I do often see really pretty bra-but-not-a-bra things on the Topshop website that make me very Envy. Might be worth a look.

Otherwise there is a specialised retailer for small bra sizes on the internet, I have no idea what it's called as I am at the other end of the spectrum but I'm sure a quick google would bring up some goodies?

I know the sort of thing you mean, I had loads of lovely ones as a youngster and used to get mine in M&S with matching knickers, but haven't noticed them in recent years. Daft really because if I was small enough to not need scaffolding I'd much rather wear that kind of thing than a full-on bra some of the time. Good luck!

Yes, I saw these the other day whilst looking for traditional vests

marriednotdead · 04/01/2012 21:47

They sell something like that in Peacocks, I have regularly bought them for my (adult slim) DD. A kind of cross between a bra and a crop top that you pull over your head. She wears them round the house rather than the airbags double boost ones for 'outside' Smile

sloggi make something. ALso a brand called carriwell

PeppermintPanda · 04/01/2012 22:12

These are brilliant. I have about 4, I think. Got them mainly to use as sports bras but now wear them more than normal bras. There are lots of others on this site as well. Postage from the states costs a fecking fortune though.

BrianButterfield · 04/01/2012 22:16

These are super comfy and cheap as chips!

HouseOfCheese · 04/01/2012 22:52

These Sloggi ones are just the best - amazingly comfortable and very easy for layering especially during summer.

Jellykat · 04/01/2012 23:20

I used to live in the sloggi ones, but have found the ones Brian linked to just as good, and loads cheaper of course.

TerraNotSoFirma · 05/01/2012 01:01

I got an 'aah bra' when I was pg/bf, very comfy. Think they are called genie bras also.
Will see if can find a link.

milkysmum · 05/01/2012 01:05

Also second the 'ahh bra' STYLE bra, found these on e bay- much cheaper than the actual ahh bra's. Really comfy, am small breasted but they also supported me when pregnant and breastfeeding even.

yellowraincoat · 05/01/2012 01:07

American Apparel tend to have stuff like this. Also asos.

suburbophobe · 05/01/2012 01:12

I go into the "pre-teens" Hmm department, sometimes find what I needwant...

Quodlibet · 05/01/2012 08:51

Urban outfitters do a lovely stretchy crop top too.

sunshineoutdoors · 05/01/2012 09:04

Sounds strange but mothercare do a cross over sleep maternity bra that I am still using while breastfeeding and think will continue after. They come in dress sizes not bra sizes - I'm small breasted and they're great on me even straight after a big feed when my breasts are like empty bags at their smallest.

DuchessEm · 05/01/2012 15:50

How about something like this? May be a bit more pricey, but looks very pretty in the photograph and you can get matching knickers, too! I am very flat chested and even though I do wear normal bras, I see this style often when we go on holiday to places like Italy and Spain and always mean to go and try them on to see if they are as comfy as they look!

maybenow · 05/01/2012 15:52

calvin klein make lovely stuff like that - i'm very Envy

rather amusingly the ck shop in my city is opposite bravissimo so the female population can divide in two sub-populations on different sides of the street Grin

Clure · 05/01/2012 19:25

primark do packs of 2 crop tops, they have proper adjustable straps and very comfortable and good support (well for a 32A!) I wear them as a bra top under v neck. i think they are about £4 per pack

sensesworkingovertime · 05/01/2012 20:08

Blimey, thanks so much for all this advice and links, you've all been fab, should find something now!

Hope you find something you like OP. I have to admit I'm jealous. I used to have a really boyish figure until I weirdly bloomed in my early 20s. Would much rather still be lithe and get away with no bra.
