Highlights on mousy hair

I have long mousy hair. It used to be highlighted blonde, and looked lovely, but for several years now I've had it tinted instead. I'm fed up with it being mousy and would love to highlight it back to blonde.

I'm also getting married in just over a month, and would very much like to have blonder hair for the wedding.

But I'm nervous about going blonde, I don't want it looking really streaky for my wedding! I'm getting it highlighted at my usual salon, who do the tints well.

Any advice? Or experience to calm my nerves!

i have dark hair and have just discovered ombre highlights. They just comb some lights through the ends from mid length down - so you don't have roots and it looks more natural and less stripey/streaky. i have mine done at rush in the strand (London).

google ombre highlights and look at some pics. good luck with the wedding.

It's all about the colourist IMO and how good they are.

I changed my appt in error and came out with a brilliant colour (three colours used) just like hers - which is actually what I asked for. Nothing like my usual mouse with obvious blonde highlights diappointment. Less bleachey blonde colour and more warm golds.

Take a pic along of a celeb with the colour that you want.

thanks spuddy and sob. I was a blonder (white!) kiddie so I know it can suit me if the colours right. The last proper highlights I had done was horrible streaky, but sob you've reminded me that my amazing colourist when I was younger (who is about to go on maternity leave, grrr!) used at least two colours. I shall ask for this when I go along :)

If the worst happens and it does come out streaky then you can always go back and ask them to sort it out by doing a semi permanent over the top to make them blend in more (or do it yourself at home, which is what I did when my last lot of highlights turned out streaky.) So you are not stuck with them for your wedding day if it does go wrong!
