Would you be a model at a hairdressers?

I haven't had my hair cut for almost a year and I'm thoroughly fed up of it. It's reasonable curly but frizzy and a few inches below shoulder length.

Today I was thinking of walking into a hairdressers and letting them do what they want with it. The last hairdressers I went to is quite a posh one with a good reputation and when looking on their website for their phone number I noticed that they are advertising for models for their senior stylists. It says:

"We want models for our Senior Creative Team. If you would like a completely new hairstyle and you are you willing to give our senior styling team a free reign to be creative - we want you!

There is no charge for cut or colour and you'll get the best haircut you have ever had!"

I have to say I'm very tempted but am naturally worried about what they might do to me. However, it's pretty much offering to do for free what I was going to pay for!

Have any of you ever done this before? Shall I go for it?

Hmm, they might scalp you. Could you cope with it being very short? Would it suit you? Would they allow you to stipulate a maximum amount off the length etc? (Or would that invalidate the offer as it would not offer them 'free reign' I wonder?)

Dodgy, but if you were going to pay for a complete change, as you say, it seems tempting.

I would suggest talking to them to get a feel for how much say you're allowed!

PS No I've never done it - am far too much of a coward conservative old bat

"Free reign to be creative" would scare me away I'm afraid.

I don't think I could cope with it being very short. Also, I haven't dyed my hair since I was about 14 (horrible experiment with a bottle of Sun In) and I've now just turned 40.

I think I need to sound them out about how far they might go. I'd love to do it but only if it worked out well!

I've done it and it was all good. I don't think they would do something that you didn't want!

I did it for the same reason as you, I didn't know what I wanted. I knew I wanted something though.

I had a cut by trainee in final few months of training, it was below standard but better than some full priced haircuts. Was not what I asked for either.

However, I then decided as it was not horrendous to have highlights. Can't fuck that up surely? Wrong!!! Left on too long, basically lightened my whole top of my head to light blonde and I only wanted a couple of strands done! It also damaged my hair was left on too long.

Never again, unless it is a simple couple inches of the bottom, which means ne'er as I have shot hair!

However,d I just re read and it said senior. If they wer prepared to rectify it if I absolutely hated it, and I accepted it could mean wacky and short, I would think about it.

savoycabbage you have given me hope! You've hit the nail on the head, I know want something done but don't know what. I'd like to go ahead if they are committed to making me look better but not if they want to try out something completely outlandish that no paying customer would ask for.
