Curly hair - good 'clumping' products?

I have blonde, highlighted, below-chin length curly hair and am looking for products (pref curly girl but any fine)

My hair isn't mega curly, in fact I didn't realise it was curly until recently. It's a mixture of waves and big ringlets and I'm looking for something to make it 'clump' better. I like it to form thick ringlets and curls rather than become separated into stringy thin ones.

I currently use a Tresemme conditioner (leave a bit in) and a Naked curl creme with some gel on top to stop frizz. It clumps ok some days but not when i mess too much with it others.

Can anyone recommend any better products for this purpose?

Hi - my hair sounds very similar to yours. I follow the no cones and no sulphates curly girl method and use this when I first get out of the shower. I have the Boots own pink stuff but found my hair felt really dirty after just one day. I also bought the non-original stuff by accident and it was rotten. I do find that plopping or at least using a t-shirt rather than a towel makes a huge difference!

I have been using argan (sp) oil before scrunching with a towel, on wettish hair, and then gently scrunching afterwards. I find it leaves the curls bigger and less separated than if I use it on towel dry hair as the label instructs.

Thanks, just had a look at the Trevor sorbie curl creme and although there are a couple of good recent reviews there are then lots of people complaining that they've changed the formula and the new one isn't very good. Any idea whether this is true?

Umberto Gianni Flirty curls scrunching jelly has changed my life. Hassle free, non frizzy curls, you can get it in boots.

They make 2 versions of the Trevor Sorbie stuff - the original version I linked to and the new version which I mentioned was best avoided! Maybe the original one was brought back by popular demand!

bigfatgypsy · 02/01/2012 11:15

Ah right, great as the recent reviews are v good. Misty I can't open your link on my phone, what's the title so I can search it?

I use avon lotus shield for a serum type thing every 2 days as stops the frizz. Then ever day I use shockwaves curl and waves mousse. Ooh and make sure your cut is right too as that makes your hair curlier x

bigfatgypsy · 02/01/2012 11:27

Ok found the other thread now, lots of suggestions but there are so many! I thought I'd see if anyone actually had similar hair to me and find out what they use Smile

I'm pretty sure I scrunch and mess with it too much so am going to try not to touch it as much.

I'm a big fan of Boots Curl Cream (pink pot, £1.25!)....not everyone likes it, but for that price it's worth a try Grin

I find if that using a spray bottle of natural rainwater onto my hair it really gets the curls into place. I have a plant pot outside and collect the rainwater and keep it in bottles for use. Where I live the water is very hard and also hard on dry hair. Coconut oil in a white tub purchased in superdrug is as good as any other product even beter that the emu oil which I find makes it fizzy.

Another curly-girl vote for Boots Curl Creme
