getting colours done

I'm having this done next week (HoC) and I'm so excited! I just wondered if anyone who has had this done previously has any advice on how to get the best out of it? Were there any questions you wish you'd asked?

Many thanks in advance

I wish I'd paid more attention generally, made my own notes instead of just relying on the handout. Also could have done with more info on how to blend the colours (although I think they now give you a leaflet or something on this).
I would have asked about how to start a capsule, which neutral to use instead of black (brown, charcoal and navy in my case).
What else? Oh, I did see another consultant for a make up session, who arranged my wallet in a really convenient way - wrote down all the meanings of the 'stars' and percentages. Sounds confusing, but it's basically just a re-cap of the longer explanation they give you, and you have it on hand as a reminder.
I also keep meaning to photocopy the wallet, as I'm sure you could buy another if it went missing, but it wouldn't be personalised to you, with your '100%' colours marked out.
Have fun!

Thanks so much Whatswrongiwthyule, that's really useful! In fact I'm going to print this off and take it with me :)

So excited!

How do they know / decide which colours 'suit' you? I've read some websites / books etc which tell you that if you suit salmon pink you are 'such and such' and if you suit fuchsia pink you are the other. I don't know what I suit. I look shit in everything. Confused

MrsSeanBean - same here. Nothing's ever really ' right '. Is it expensive?

How do they cope if your hair is not your 'real' colour - i.e. if you have grey hair highlighted blonde?

Hmm I guess it would be worth it if they know what they ate looking for and what tones make you look less shit than others. People rave about it a lot so there must be summat in it.

You're welcome mollysmum!
MrsSB: I like to think there's something in it, altbough I know some MN posters are quite negative about it. For me, as someone with a limited budget and not a great deal of inclination time to spend wandering around the shops, I really appreciate being able to quickly home in on clothes that will suit me, at least colour-wise (have had my style 'done' too but that's another story!)
It took some time for me to get to this stage, but I can now easily mix and match what's in my wardrobe, as everything matches me so I can always find things to 'go with.'
