I don't do make up for myself a lot, and I'm taking DD1 who is 13 into town on Friday

And she's said she'd like some make up.

Which is the best make up counter to take her to? She said she doesn't want to look like her not-friend who has the classic teenage tide mark of foundation and glittery eyeshadow.

Bobbi Brown? Mac? Somewhere else that might be a bit cheaper for her?

I hate wearing make up but if I do it is Bobbi Brown.

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/12/2011 17:50

MAC would be where I'd head to at 13.

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/12/2011 17:51

Personally I don't think a 13 year old needs foundation at all unless she has really bad skin.

grumpypants · 27/12/2011 17:52

Maybelline - she's 13. Unless you're Posh Spice why start her off on the really expensive stuff? Maybelline is lovely, and has nice products.

changingnicknameforxmas · 27/12/2011 17:53

She has great skin and very few spots - she wants eyeshadow, mascara and lip gloss

If you take her to the Body Shop, they might offer to try some make up on her so she and you can see what she likes/what suits her.

changingnicknameforxmas · 27/12/2011 18:04

She uses a tea tree oil solution I mix to cleanse her face (washable wipes, with tea tree oil, lavender and a squirt of baby wash) and a simple moisturiser and her skin is so clear it's sickening Xmas Wink I'm jealous Xmas Grin

She's just looking a little bit, not a lot. But yes good idea on Maybelline and Body Shop - she's only young and she doesn't need the expensive stuff yet

Boots then - rimmel etc

But the mac people do good sessions on what to use and then she could go and buy cheaper versions in boots.

changingnicknameforxmas · 27/12/2011 18:12

MrsCB - that's a good idea, because I don't wear much make up so I have no idea what to do with all the serums and lotions and potions Grin

And remember there are plenty of YouTube tutorials for how to apply eye makeup, etc.
