Camel maternity coat?

tethersjinglebellend · 27/12/2011 11:25

I can't find one in a 16 Sad

I really like the IO one here, but dithered about the price and now it's gone. I don't want a pea-coat style, but all things considered. Other colours apart from red and black considered too.

Any ideas? Can stretch to about £150, but would rather spend (a lot) less...

Can you link, Gigondas? I couldn't find any there...

Cybbo · 27/12/2011 11:59

Can I ask what is the point of a maternity coat tethers? I woudl ahve thought a normal long drapey camel coat and layers/scarf underneath more practical and you will wear for longer

Cybbo · 27/12/2011 12:06

a few diff styles here

Gigondas · 27/12/2011 12:07

If you have fairly fitted style coat (even long/loose one) it will start to bulge and eventually not fit. You need something that's accommodating of bump and frankly "swing style "costs don't do that (am size 10 and 35 weeks and there is no way that can fit a woman's normal coat, even some of dhs coat are a stretch now).

Will hunt out links

Gigondas · 27/12/2011 12:14

one type

two type

grey option

Also cybbo you can get away with layering if pregnant in warmer months (dd1 summer baby - coat not an issue as layered as you said) but if wet/cold you want something that does up properly and doesn't stretch (some nice choices you made but I am not
Sure I would be delighted to spend in excess of £100 on something that could
End up stretched if I tried to button it).

Cheers for links, Gigondas- unfortunately I really don't like the pea-coat style and wanted something a bit longer. however, it's beginning to look as if beggars can't be choosers Wink

Cyb, Gigondas is right- At 17 weeks I already cannot do up any of my coats (and I have a lot Grin). My stomach is cold. I don't want to wear a big jumper over a dress, and scarves don't cover the bump. I thought I could get away with it, but another five months of cold stomach can fuck right off Grin

Any other ideas?

I've been looking but I can't find anything in camel.

The IO wrap coat is nice.
Do you just want a long coat?

I was size 18ish in my first pregnancy and wore a wool/cashmere swing coat that was size 20-22. It was very warm and comfy and fitted fine all the way through. It cost 30ish off Ebay. I still have it (was 16ish at start of pregnancy) and it is still fine for occasions when I need to be warmish and smartish.

I thought jojo maman bebe sale here looked quite good value but they are mainly black and red.
