Babyliss big hair is defeating me

What is it meant to do? I think perhaps (from online reviews) think it is actually meant to make hair shinier, a bit like straighteners. But I want bounce at the ends. Can it do this? I don't care about shine.

I think I have been doing it the wrong way round and am going from tips to root when I should be going from root to tip.

There's a video tutorial on Amazon - perhaps have a look at You tube etc for demos to get what you want?

i think it probably helps if you have layeres

the amazon demo is really helpful....

I think the problem may be that my hair is just far too long. Really nothing is going to sort it out except a hair cut so that it is about shoulder length. I would have a better chance of creating a style with the babyliss big hair if the length wasn't just pulling any style back out.

I have read some reviews from people with long hair saying similar.

I think it's best for hair around shoulder length or a bit longer. It does give bounce, but probably not ideal if your hair is very long.

Make sure your hair is almost dry when you use it.

I love mine- I start at the root and do the top layer first, working down to the underneath layers and then using it vertically on the ends to make ringlets... My hair is quite curly though.

Is your hair dead straight? How long is it? Do you just want to add volume?

MillyR · 26/12/2011 23:58

It is very, very straight and currently too long. It is below breast length. I need to get about a foot cut off it, and then try again. At the moment only using rollers will keep a style in it.

I will try the using it vertically thing though. That might help.

when my hairdresser curls my hair he holds the brush vertically.

I go the other way to tethers!

Yes, hair should be 90% dry to start. I get a few crocodile hair clips and clip by hair up and then start BBH'ing from the underneath layers. Put the brush up to the root and then move it down, going over the ends for bounce.

It does take a bit of getting used to, but use it every day for a week and you'll be an expert.
