False eyelash novice needs help

I fancy wearing false lashes on Christmas Day but I've never worn them before.

Can anyone recommend any brands? I don't want to look like a drag queen. Grin

I love the girls aloud ones and eyelure. Remember to let the glue sit on the lashes for about 39 seconds or so to get tacky before applying :)

another vote for eyelure. and definitely leave the glue for at least 30 secs, it should start to go clear thats when to apply. Oh and give yourself plenty of time, nothing worse than trying to stick them on in a hurry!

Eyelure are good - I find the glue supplied not great tho. "Duo" glue from Mac is fab tho ( about £10) - no worry about your eyelashes falling into your MIL s prawn cocktail!

My sister used false eyelashes all the time, they looked fabulous, she talked me into trying them, I gave up after several panicky ' I have stuck my eyelids together' moments - the effect was extremely attractive.

However recently I've started using them again, I've used all sorts of brands from Shu Umera ( drag queen ) to the Girls Aloud ones, if you want a really subtle effect go for the Eyelure Individuals in short and medium at the outer edges. In full lashes look for a clear flexible band - I think my favourites so far are Ardell Lashes ( Boots & Superdrug ) with Duo glue ( in white - not black, so you know it's set when it goes clear ).

On YouTube Pixiwoo and Lisa Eldridge do very good tutorials on false eyelashes, personally I've found that using a magnifying mirror, tweezers and looking down into the mirror does the trick. Have a few practice sessions beforehand and you'll be sorted, if I can do it, anyone can.

In my hey-day I used to use Copydex to stick them on.Confused

Many thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I have come down with a cold so my eyes look like p*holes in the snow. Grin

I wear them every single day. The 116 eye lure lengthening ones are fab. They cost about £5.50 but I can make one pair last about four days. I take them off at night, pick the glue off carefully and put them in safe place. You will soon get the hang of them, I used to have extensions but I became allergic to the glue. The lashes with invisibands look better in my opinion, the heavier lashes on a black band can look a bit trannyfied but ok for a night time look. I love them and takes me less time to put on than mascara ever did! I even wear them for the school run ha ha ha :)

Now that's what I call dedication. Smile
