Sorry, boring, but best thing for removing hard skin on feet?

Horrible dry skin on heels, feels like it needs removing rather than just moisturising. Do you reckon those home pedicure type things (the motorised thingies with the discs which whizz round) are worth the investment or am I better off with just a plain old pumice stone? Ta.

ped eggs are AMAZING.

MarchelineWhatNot · 20/12/2011 10:32

Microplane Foot File. Works like magic.

SantasENormaSnob · 20/12/2011 10:46

Pedicure.

Ped egg and flexitol to maintain.

PattySimcox · 20/12/2011 10:54

If you're brave and have a steady hand then a pedicure knife will get all the hard skin off in one go

MissFoodie · 20/12/2011 15:06

ped egg did nothing for me, plus a lot of work, the best for removing are blade shavers, boots sell them (I think), I buy mine in Spain though!
aside from this, lots of cream with high urea content (superdrug has highest) or oil based balms

swanfall · 20/12/2011 15:33

The blue pumice stone from Body Shop! It's amazing and somehow works better than all other pumice stones and foot files. Just do it most days in the shower and problem solved.

VivaLaSativa · 20/12/2011 16:05

This pedikur product is amazing. It makes your feet feel so much lighter and much less work than pumice or files.

racingheart · 20/12/2011 16:07

According to a very chatty woman who sat next to me on the bus yesterday, the best way is a £10 15 minute trip to one of those weird places where fish eat your feet. I'm only saying.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/12/2011 16:12

Im a podiatrist, buy a big tub of doublebase gell (bout a tenner) and apply it twice a day. You can wear it under socks and it wont stain the sheets but after a few weeks your feet will be much softer. After 3 months you wont recognise them.

JosieRosie · 20/12/2011 16:32

Cool Fluffy, where can you buy such a thing?

sprinkles77 · 20/12/2011 21:45

Corn plane for the worst of it. Smooth with a foot file then apply heel balm (flexitol or boots own brand) 2 x a day. I have used a craft or pen knife or a scalpel Blush. I do have very steady hands!

teenyweenytadpole · 21/12/2011 08:00

Hi thanks al, sounds like a ped egg is the way to go. I have doublebase gel for my psoriasis but it's remembering to apply it every day that I'm not very good at.

I should add that I tried one of those razor blade knife type things last year and cut my feet to shreds. Got a bit carried away!

Josie you can buy it in a pharmacy (sains and asda always seem cheaper) or off ebay!.

doinmummy · 22/12/2011 04:09

My feet were truly awful. Hard hard hard skin, I use Boots own cream for feet/cracked heels. It contains urea which is the magic ingredient. It is fab and I noticed a difference straight away.

MaeMobley · 22/12/2011 09:20

Ped Egg and Fish don't work for me.

JosieRosie · 22/12/2011 11:56

Thanks Fluffy - I'm suffering with dry skin all over these days coz of cold weather and stress so will give it a go Smile
