Just popped to shops to get last minute Xmas pressies for a couple of friends little files, wanted to get a top or pjs for a 5 yo & 3yo. My own DD is only 14 months but I was really shocked at some of the clothes aged 1-5 in m&s or 3-12 in next. Really found it hard to find something that wasn't covered in loads of ott sequins or lace really garish ( as opposed to nice & bright) colours. Of course each to their own but it made me feel a bit :( for what girls clothes might be like for my dd in a couple of years time. Where do you shop once your dd's are past the baby stage?

Next boys section
H&M boys section
Boden (sale!)
Frugi boys section
Never ever Clarks for shoes! I went to the factory shop once and OMG, it was just a wall of pink vom-tastic crap. Ecco are good but £££

Hardly ever buy from girls sections - which is ridiculous really!

But DD looks lovely (I think!) just not pink, and free to have fun!

eg today had a lovely yellow top from Frugi with a shark applique and red H&M trousers. Yesterday green H&M trousers and purple H&M plain top.

JoJo Maman Bebe do fab, non-garish stuff for up to 5's. Wish DD was still little! PS - what happened to OshKosh?

Zara, h&m and Gap here.

trixymalixy · 26/12/2011 21:25

Except I buy mostly from eBay..

EdithWeston · 26/12/2011 21:29

ASDA - some sequinned horrors in there, but a lot of it is very good. And Landsend - many of their skirts are skorts which DD likes.

Piffpaffpoff · 26/12/2011 22:54

Yes to Asda, you have to look every time you go in but every so often they have a few almost Boden-esque items in amongst the ghastly sparkly shite.

lemonbonbons · 26/12/2011 23:00

Molly and Jack (ebay -boots don t do it anymore), monsoon, Zara . Monsoon for really nice dresses (again 2nd hand from posh folks on ebay hardly worn- look at what else they are selling )

If you need tights Primark ..... buy a size bigger tho. Really nice patterns like Boden but £10 cheaper

P. S. I also hate all the sequin, slogaon laden, ruffled , chavtastic style of clothing that appears everywhere. Yak.

Thanks for the Boys suggestions - could look great, will start looking in H&M
