How much would you expect to pay for a colour and cut?

I've been going to a new hairdresser recently and I'm extremely happy with them - lovely staff, very sweet, excellent cut, happy with colour, 5 mins walk from my house, all good Smile I think it's quite pricey though - they charge me £92 for a colour (all over semi permanent, one colour only) and cut. I do have a lot of hair and it takes 2-3 large bowls of colour but is this quite pricey?

ps I do live in London!

I pay that much in Gloucestershire! In fact, last time I went to my old salon in London (about 3 years ago), it was £120.

Fuzzled · 18/12/2011 21:31

Hmm... I was £85 iirc for my last posh colour and cut (pre DS when I had cash!) rather than my now common quick cut at the local granny salon.

That was for shoulder length hair and was three years ago...

Seems to be the going rate these days

Pandygirl · 18/12/2011 21:34

I live in Sheffield and it costs me that much - but it does look great! Xmas Smile

I pay £167. Long hair, also in London. I do think it's worth it simply because both the colourist and the hairdresser are the only ones who have ever made my hair look as good as I want it to look.

madammecholet · 18/12/2011 21:37

I paid £130 yesterday... Full head highlights and cut, half head highlights and cut about £90... I'm not in london either..

JosieRosie · 18/12/2011 21:45

See I know highlights are pricey but I thought what I was paying for just one all-over colour was a bit much..... Oh well it's v close to my house and I'm very happy with it so I guess it's ok. Only have to go every 2 months so not so bad!

yup that's about average, I think I paid a tad more than that and I am not in London.
I do think it's expensive when all they're doing is pasting it on like you would at home.
I can understand paying a lot for the skill of doing high/lowlights

LynetteScavo · 18/12/2011 21:53

£98, not in London. Pricey, but I wouldn't dare use anyone else.

LoveInASnowyClimate · 18/12/2011 21:54

About £100, but I have stopped colouring my hair, discovered I love my natural colour, and now only have to pay for cuts. Result!

frumperina · 18/12/2011 23:06

Half head of highlights and cut £90 in London. Not a posh salon though.

Zondra · 19/12/2011 11:45

I pay £190 for cut, colour & conditioning treatment here in Glasgow's West End.

It IS expensive but, I'm going through the process of turning my naturally dark brown hair blonde so, I have to be very careful & selective about the salon I visit, which in turn makes it pricey.

It's been worth it so far as the condition of my hair is pretty amazing considering the trauma it's been through!

AsinineLadiesDancing · 19/12/2011 11:49

£60 here, I thought it was a lot, so only have colour every second time. Cut is £30 for senior stylist.

We do live in an 80s time award, though.

Moredofbumsnet · 19/12/2011 13:47

I pay £25 to a home hairdresser and she makes me a cup of tea and plays with dc3 while I'm waiting for the colour.

Envy at Mored

£102 for highlights and cut in Bristol on Saturday, £40 for just a cut and blowdry.

strictlyxmas · 20/12/2011 08:35

I have full colour costs 40 quid from mobile hairdresser too... much nicer than being in a salon imo.
