Is there a website where I could find out if I'm a bright spring or deep summer or whatever?

Stuck on couch with hurty knee (minor op y'day) but on the bright side I have lots of time to MN! :o

So, about this colour business, is there a website where I could find out what I am? I sure hope it's something pretty... bright spring or deep summer, not dank autumn or frigid winter...

You really ned to be draped to tell which season you are. There are a few sites which attempt to steer you in the right direction but more often than not they are completely wrong.

Its virtually impossible to self diagnose for many reasons. For example, your skin can be "cool" in terms of your season but appear yellow/sallow which is really confusing to the eye. Im a Spring and am in a FaceBook group for Springs where we all appear to have completely different colouring

Sorry, I know thats not what you were hoping to hear! FWIW, it was the best £99 Ive ever spent so would recommend going to House of COlour and having it done properly

Hmmm. Maybe there's one in Canada, where I live. May have to investigate.

It is almost impossible to self diagnose, but there is a Facebook group called 12 blueprints full of women trying to do exactly that, so there's lots of info. It's American/Canadian mostly, so might be some useful links.

I have self-diagnosed. I've checked many websites. Here are some I found useful.

galadarling.com/advice/fashion-help-for-recovering-goths
www.truth-is-beauty.com/index.html
sycblog.com/category/what-to-wear/colours/

Whether you're cool or warm is very easy to self-diagnose. You're cool if you have blue or pinky undertones and you're warm if you have yellow/golden undertones.

The seasons can be a bit tricky.

This site gives you a couple of basic steps for free that might point you in the right direction.

Salvora I must disagree about the cool/warm thing. Im warm as a Spring and yet Im a scottish blue-white person. My friend has yellow sallow skin and is a Summer (cool season).

I can recommend a book Colour me Confident which takes you through the steps of finding your season and it's quite good.

I had my colours done but TBH was not impressed. She said i was in between 2 seasons and came out with a light spring- I think.

Many of the swatches were really not me.

There are now more sub-sections of colours- mine were done about 25 years back when it was all quite basic.

I think it's easy to know what suits you by trial and error.

One thing having my colours did for me was to make me step away from wearing black or navy near my face and to choose lighter colours.

One basic tip in the CMC book is to drape white or cream against your face and see which suits- I suit white better. The same goes for pink and peach, then sea greens and olive greens.

These will give you an idea about cool or warm.

I could use websites to determine that I'm either a spring or a summer, but couldn't narrow it down on my own. The color analyst's verdict was that I'm a light summer, and after some initial resistance I think it was spot on. I changed nearly all my makeup colors and made a major wardrobe, and as a result, look much younger and prettier.

Oh, and neither white or cream looks good on me. My veins are both blue and green, my skin seems to me yellowish/ sallow but according to makeup artists my skin tone is in fact quite pink, and both silver and gold look very good on me (in fact, pale gold is one of my best neutrals). And my eyes are gray-green with golden brown flecks.

Just for fun, I put some Spring makeup colors on me today ( a warm coral lipstick, creamy eye shadow, slightly warm-toned neutrals). Although they technically mesh with my multicolored eyes, they have a subtle aging effect on me - I look tired and worn out and lack contrast and focus. Proper Summer colors, lilacs, lavendars, smoky blues and cool neutrals make my skin and eyes look more vibrant.

Oi! I'm not frigid! I'm a sultry winter!

Jacksmania · 19/12/2011 22:12

I'd really like to know what I am. My hair is medium brown. By itself it tends to blond highlights but I prefer to have dark chocolate ones put in. My eyes are light blue-green, and my skin has warm undertones (yellow/pink). So I guess that makes me a... what?
