Flat supportive boots, not slippy or too ugly to wear with skirts, what do you think of these

Looking at these but any feedback or other ideas please?

PS I needs some sensible boots, but I'm TTC which (going by last time) may mean evil crippling attack of SPD accompanying any BFP and sensible shoes needed that will be OK also for work not just casual.

Will you get spd straight away ? (ignorant)

Surely it'll be spring by the time you need them?

natashakaplinkyplop · 16/12/2011 14:56

I've had bad spd twice and I'd not have been able to do those laces.
I wore uggs, lace up pumps from clarks and birkinstocks in summer.

MrsHankey · 16/12/2011 16:31

Think the boots will probably have a side zip, the lacing will be just for style.
Was going to put good price but quite expensive for non-leather.

sedgieloo · 16/12/2011 18:15

Thanks all
ristretto - I kind of forgot about that!! Yes I need a zip.
MrsHankey - you are right I want leather for that kind of money
jamaisjedors - I am expecting to get it early because of how bad I had it last time and how long it lingered after, but then I may not get my bfp soon, but just in case I want to take it into consideration
natashakaplinkyplop - I think you are right about uggs, they would be easy to get on and off, but I think I need more support - I was looking for something a bit more structured because of that.

If anyone has any other suggestions/brands to look at I'd really welcome it.

Fly London? A bit more expensive, but it's nearly sales time...

Bunbaker · 16/12/2011 18:57

Do you have a Rieker store near you? I spent one Saturday afternoon walking all round a shopping centre and ended up with sore feet. The Rieker boots felt as comforatbale as slippers when I tried them on.

aVentingAngel · 16/12/2011 19:48

I looked at HoF who have this boot as well and they say it has a side zip

aVentingAngel · 16/12/2011 19:49

Whoops - I meant ASOS, NOT HoF - sorry.

BalloonSlayer · 16/12/2011 20:09

I think they're too busy/fussy to wear with skirts. Quilting ok on its own, Lacing OK on its own, DocMartenness OK on its own. All together . . . um

but you are probably 150,000 x more trendy than me so feel free to tell me to shut the fuck up you old biddy ignore.

sedgieloo · 16/12/2011 20:58

BalloonSlayer Grin thanks, you are no doubt right, I live in heels, I like a bit of glamour, I never buy flat sensible boots but it's got to be done (I also have a toddler and not happy carrying her in my heeled boots) so I'm after advice!
Bunbaker, never heard of Rieker, i'll check them out - thanks

Oh BalloonSlayer reading that back now.. I meant you are no doubt right that they are too fussy not that I'm dead trendy!!!

I have the Doc boots -in several colours-- that Tarka lined to. They are really comfortable and I love them

I've just bought these... still have SPD pain and a bad back

MrsHankey · 17/12/2011 08:39

There's lots of good priced Rieker boots here and agree very comfy.

AutumnWitch · 17/12/2011 08:53

I'd third the recommendations for the DMs. I love mine. They have the classic springy sole, built to withstand just about everything you can throw at them too.

They're not quite full length though, but I tend to wear mine with thick tights and just above the knee skirts.
