Trilogy Rosehip oil - meh....

I have read fantastic reviews of this product. Unlike a lot of skincare, this has been proven to reduce wrinkles and stretch marks over time. It's also a natural product which I love. I was expecting it to be a new Holy Grail product for me Smile

It's really not wowing me though. I have to use two full droppers of oil on my face and neck and even then my skin feels a bit tight. I usually end up leaving it to soak in for about 10 minutes then adding moisturiser on top. Is this how you are supposed to use it? Like a serum rather than a stand-alone night treatment?
TIA

do you use it after cleansing when your face is still damp? I think the best way to use it is after hot cloth so skin is warm and damp

JosieRosie · 15/12/2011 10:26

Hi fluffylegs, yeah I do. I think maybe my skin is just unbelievably dry and needs 2 products rather than one!

I use a it lot, and I always put some moisturiser on top.
Two ful droppers? That sounds like an awful lot. I use two or three drops, press into the skin once I've warmed them in my palm- no rubbing, and some moisturiser on it.

Ok coffee, will try pressing into my skin. I usually massage it right in with lots of rubbing!

how long have you been using it for?
you need to allow a few weeks at least, but yes, add or mix with your usual creams if your skin is very dry, it will do you nothing but good!
are you also using around eye area?

bubble2bubble · 15/12/2011 14:51

I use a couple of drops at night and again under my moisturiser in the morning.

Maybe use an exfoliator - everything seems to work better after that? ( trilogy one is very nice too).

Two full droppers is a huge amount, I honestly don't think you should need that much

fluffylegs · 15/12/2011 15:04

I think also Jodie it depends on how you are used to your skin feeling. I was used to feeling quite greasy / moisturised after using cream moisturisers until I started just using rosehip oil and now there isn't such a contrast between how my skin felt before and after moisturising. If that makes any sense whatsoever!

HoHoOpotomus · 15/12/2011 15:31

I use about three drops - 2 droppers does sound like alot. I liked using it, but didn't really see any change in my skin.

JosieRosie · 15/12/2011 16:41

I think you're right fluffylegs, I may have gotten 'hooked' on how lovely and plump and slippy my skin feels after using something like Astral cream, which I just love.

bubble, you're right about exfoliating, but I'm all over it already and use a hot cloth cleanser every evening before applying rosehip oil.

I think I will carry on but try to limit myself to 3 drops and use a moisturiser or a greasier oil over the top Smile

I'm 'meh' about it too, and was excited about using it

it didn't do anything much for me - I actually prefer superdrug's own range vitamin e oil, which i use alone or with night cream, and costs about £3

and the Trilogy oil I have has gone off and now STINKS like fish. Yuck.

JosieRosie · 15/12/2011 19:52

Cheers foosty, I will try the Superdrug oil next

coffee, I used 3 drops tonight and just patted it all over my face and neck. It feels much better than when I rub vigorously massage it in so thanks for the tip!
