Any recommendation for a good anti-aging moisturiser?

I have been a good girl (or I kept telling myself), so DH will get me something from nice Santa Smile.

I have dry/combination skin, live in Scotland (so not a lot of sun). I have been using L'occitance immortelle (trial size only) for the last month and doesn't seem to do much to me.

I can be quite lazy and own up that I don't use night cream (just too lazy Blush). So all suggestion are welcome as I feel my skin is getting lifeless...

All suggestions are welcomed Grin

Oh, watching this with so much interest.

I have tried so many moisturisers in the last few years - Loreal Revitalift, Nivea Q10, one from Roc, Boots No.7 Lift and Luminate, practically every one in the Clinique and Clarins ranges and am now on a Lancome one which is absolute shite.

I have combination skin with very dry patches on my cheeks.

hard to advise when it comes to creams, also depends on your budget and how bothered you are about it being chemical free. In terms of feel I would try a sample first, most good companies will send you some, I've reviewed a few, here you go:

As a night cream I've heard good things about Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter

What I do is add a drop of vitamin E oil to an ordinary moisturiser at night.

For day you need a moisturiser with a broad spectrum sunscreen - summer and winter as 95% of all skin ageing is down to the sun's UVA (ageing) and UVB (burning) rays. Oil of Olay is good as is Dr Nick Lowe's daily moisturiser - both have SPF15. And yes living in Scotland will help (I used to live in rainy Ireland!) but you still need an SPF.

Heavy duty for parched, flaky skins - Eucerin creams at night. (Inexpensive and not very romantic, but they work.)

Daily under make-up all-around moisturizer - Chanel Hydramax Beauty Serum. Hydramax smells divine. I just feel so pulled together when I apply it, and any foundation glides on effortlessly just seconds after (but I'm also good to go without any). Love the serum so much that cannot face a day without it, so just repurchased. The bottle is beautiful and comes with a pump too. Hydramax keeps my skin so well hydrated that I haven't reached for Eucerin in a long while. So I really recommend it.

Both moisturizers are non-comedogenic and don't irritate my sensitive skin.

Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter - smells lovely and is full of natural ingredients but very thick and greasy. I don't mind this (I'm 32 with sensitive combo skin) but it may irritate some people.

I know you probably fancy a splurge OP but my skin just loves Astral face cream - cheapo stuff in a blue jar. Smells lovely and fresh, rich texture but sinks in beautifully. Can't recommend it enough Grin

I really love olay total effects. It also has SPF15 and is quickly absorbed, not greasy at all. My husband has also started using it as he was so impressed!

Jessicaalbastwin · 12/12/2011 17:02

I use elemis pro-collagen marine cream, I love it, not at all greasy but definately moisturising.

RyokoTheRedNosedLamedear · 12/12/2011 17:48

I just use Rescue/Bio Oil.

MummyAnnabella · 12/12/2011 17:52

I really rate boots time delay anti-wrinkle daycream for mature skin (even though I'm 32 and don't have particularly dry skin.) It's just a really lovely cream - and I've tried somany creams - including much more expensive ones. I always come back to this one because it's a lovely texture and makes my skin look glowy. Also has spf 15, and feels like a luxury cream.

Pinkflipflop · 12/12/2011 21:39

I use ultrasun SPF 30 every day and I live in N Ireland.
It's an excellent moisturiser and a great primer for make-up - wouldn't change for anything!!

Check out QVC for great deals on it.

I'm a clinique 3 stepper, also in Scotland, dry combo. I do it every day without fail, even in the hospital having DS! it's just become a habit, I suppose. As I am now careering towards 40, I started using the turnaround radiance night cream in the last month or so, and I think it's perked up my skin. I don't do anything fancy, just swoosh face with cold water and stick it on just before bed. Also, I have friends who recommend Liz Earle's stuff

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 12/12/2011 21:58

Clarins Hydraquench cream. The one for dry skin or cold climates, it's a little thicker and just sinks in really nicely. Not greasy and doesn't make my sensitive skin break out.

scarlet76 · 12/12/2011 23:24

Clinique fan - have used the turnaround night cream and am currently using a free sample of another anti aging night cream - forget what they call out but it's in a green tube and around £35. I will probably buy when the sample is all used up
