I want to get some brushes for eyeshadow... are there any that are good for a reasonable price?

Depends what you class as reasonable! I like MAC brushes but are quite pricey - my mum swears body shop brushes are just as good and considerably cheaper too!

I have most of the mac brushes for eyeshadow but i think my Bobbi Brown ones pip them simply because they are softer especially the smudge brush, but mac are very good, you cant go wrong with either. You should look now at the mac ones as they do little sets of small handle brushes for xmas. They are £39.99 i think for five. I have collected them over the last couple of xmas's.

I have to agree that Body Shop brushes are excellent and not too pricey.

I was going to start a v similar thread about concealer brushes. I need a new one to use with my mineral concealer.

monkeysmama · 09/12/2011 20:27

It's worth having a look at Debenhams if you dare (see other thread about crap service) as I'm sure they had reduced price Mac and other brushes.

Crown are meant to be very good as recommended by Sali Hughes. I have ordered asked for some for Christmas.

There was a brush thread earlier on which I recommended Royal & Langnickel Pro Silk brushes. You can buy several of their single brushes on Amazon and they have an amazing bargain of a 20 brush set for £45 or thereabouts. Lovely quality brushes, similar, if not better than MAC. In fact they make brushes for some of the top brands.

proudfoot · 10/12/2011 00:12

That Royal & Langnickel set linked on Amazon looked a brilliant bargain if you want a really full brush set.

Personally I am another Body Shop brush user and v happy with them.

I got a Ruby & Mille ones from Boots ages ago that was really okay and quite inexpensive. No idea if they do these any more.

If you're going to buy MAC brushes - even just one or two - definitely invest in a MAC 217. It's the most useful and versatile eyeshadow brush ever. I have about five of those and use nothing else a lot of the time.

valiumredhead · 10/12/2011 11:49

MAC - I bought a set on ebay. Lots of fakes out there though but easy to check if they are or not - I googled how to spot fakes and there is a site that tells you what to look out for. I love my brushes :)

YY to mac brush 217. I use it all the time. Its lovely for blending and working in the crease of the eye.

NotADudeExactly · 10/12/2011 20:31

... and dusting a light coat of a base colour over the entire lid without packing on too much colour.

It can also be abused as an absolutely brilliant under eye concealer brush.

Have I mentioned how much I love the MAC 217? Grin

Body Shop brushes fan here too. Soooo soft and lovely to use.
