a mannequin's body?

The bastards. Angry People everywhere should know about this sort of crap, especially our children. That's why I've posted it here instead of in the Femenism section.

It's only H&M (and they are not mannequins, they are computer generated bodies which is almost weirder). Other companies do use real models, although they often photoshop the hell out of them afterwards.

If they are computer-generated bodies then where is the function where I put in my measurements and it shows the clothes on a computer-generated my-shape body? That's what I want to know.

ujjayi · 09/12/2011 09:50

I think anyone with an ounce of common sense is aware of this. I also think that one look at the H&M website tells you that those photos are dodgy.

It is annoying. I don't know what we do to change it though. Many fashion houses allegedly refuse to use size zero models and yet they still don't represent all shapes and sizes on the catwalk and they certainly airbrush their ads and editorial.

HugosGoatee · 09/12/2011 09:53

Can someone Photoshop my head on to that body in real life please?

But yes - Shock

MayaAngelCool · 09/12/2011 12:38

If you read the article it says this practice is commonplace across the fashion industry.

Is anyone really surprised at this? Didn't Sloggi do an obviously photoshopped advert way back in early noughties? It had a row of models in thongs with their backs turned. Complexion was so smooth that you'd think it was just Barbie dolls with a face stuck on it.

Not saying that it's okay. Just that I'm not surprised. Fashion rarely represent real sized women.
