that is dreadful pseudo urban skatewear for the middle class mum who likes to walk on the wild side!

mummytosteven · 08/01/2006 18:41

DS has got a black T-Shirt with spiders web and spiders on it from H & M - couldn't resist getting him his first Goth style top (so I'm not just dressing him like little lord fauntleroy )

Still don't like it - obviously if I ever have a ds he will be dressed in frilly shirts and velveteen knickerbockers...

Twiglett · 08/01/2006 18:49

I think my DS looked his most gorgeous when dressed in a long sleeved plain black t-shirt

that is really difficult to find .. plain stuff

(I have been looking for a plain white / cream long sleeved warm t-shirt for DD .. under 2 years .. can't find one anywhere .. any help appreciated)

colditz · 08/01/2006 18:50

What's whizzy writing?

NotQuiteCockney · 08/01/2006 19:05

I quite like Quiksilver for boy's clothes. DS1 generally looks like a little fake surfer these days. But it's not too butch, iyswim.

I don't hate numbers/words/whatever on boy's clothes. DS1 loves his Spiderman and Star Wars tops. Who am I to deny him that pleasure?

Spidermama · 08/01/2006 19:16

Ah yes> Quicksilver's nice. I still like oilily best though.

There's not a whiff of Little Lord Fauntlroy.

horrid.

am off to gap tomorrow to buy ds1 some clothes and dd (always buy for dd if I am out)

pooka · 09/01/2006 14:33

All I want for ds are some plain footed suits, preferably padded or lined, in easy on the eye colours with no cars/trains/diggers or dogs on them. Gap had one padded sleep suit with snowmen on in blue/red that was half decent two years ago that dd had and ds in now in.
I don't want skateboarders clothes, baggy jeans, logos, motifs, sludgy colours. He's 4 months old for gods sake. Don't want him looking like a hoodlum - yet.
Not asking for too much, am I?

LOL Twig - is it because I is middle-class etc, quite agree that M & S should really steer clear of trying to do street fashion.
Ds would just look a complete wally in that kind of gear so we stick with Gap and Boden - also some OK separates in John Lewis.

Marina · 09/01/2006 14:42

We shop in France whenever we can too Freckle.

XmasPud · 09/01/2006 14:45

nice to know that those with boys find it just as hard as those of us with girls..Normally I see those lovely little casual/smart trendy boys stuff and go green with envy.
I am SICK TO DEATH of butterflies, fairies, hearts, pink and purple - give me some originality and style. Fed up of the baby-pink option or the tarty diamante 5yrold but looks like a hooker type outfit.

nailpolish · 09/01/2006 14:47

xmaspud, i like you am fed up of fairies and butterflies. i find H&M have much better, nicer, more original ideas and are cheaper too

next does my head in with all that girlie girlie

pooka · 09/01/2006 14:48

It's odd. When dd was tiny I hated pink with a passion. So actually tended to drool over the then more boys stuff. Now have no difficulty whatsoever in finding lovely girls clothes in colours other than sugar pink but can't find anything for ds that I like. Think will try looking next time I go to France.

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 09/01/2006 14:52

Cod - not sure - but I think we may actually agree on something - can you link to me a few things which you do like for little boys (

laughinglil · 13/01/2006 22:25

do not like that kind of stuff I have dt's (girl/boy) and find dressing my son in nice clothes hard. Catimini always do nice stuff but very pricey!
can I ask you a question what shoes are your ds's wearing at the mo because all I seem to like are kickers (did like a bms pair but didn't have his size) help!

collision · 13/01/2006 22:37

My ds1 is wearing lovely navy Clarks shoes and ds2 is wearing pale blue Clarks shoes (£9 in sale)

ASDA have some lovely boys clothes in atm. bought the ds's a fleecey top each today for £2 each and their jeans are only £1.75.

i do like next tank tops and polo neck sweaters with jeans but HATE HATE HATE those tops that Cod posted from M and S.

Would never dress boys like Enid Blyton boys but do like them to look nice. GAP is good too (in the sale)

stitch · 13/01/2006 22:42

all boys look the same. because all boys clothes are the same
boring
bah!

collision · 13/01/2006 22:43

very boring

Vertbaudet have nice things as well.

MrsSpoon · 13/01/2006 22:45

I got a delivery of fab boys clothes from, shhhh, Next today, brilliant, particularly for DS2 who is still little enough to fit into the 3 months to 5 years range, got him a tanktop and t-shirt set, plain basic jeans, trackie bottoms for nursery, plain coloured t-shirts, stripey hooded sweatshirt and a t-shirt with a crocodile on it because he loves crocodiles. DS1 did fair so well and only got a hooded sweatshirt, but he's not needing much at the moment anyway.

stitch · 13/01/2006 22:46

if i wanted ds to be laughed out of school, then yes i would put him in the oilily, stereotypically gay clothes.

collision · 13/01/2006 22:50

Stitch..........you in a bad mood tonight?
