I used to have the Nivea one, which was quite good but now can't find anywhere. I tried the Ambre Solaire one but that smelled awful and was really shiny. Everything else I've seen is only SPF 15. wouldn't mind spending a bit more to get something matte - any recommendations?

Clarins do an SPF 30 for around £12-£15 - not cheap but seems to last for ages.

AKMD · 04/12/2011 14:58

That's not bad though. I'll find a Clarins counter and check it out, thanks!

I've found clinique (think it's called city block) spf 40 to be good in the past.

snail1973 · 04/12/2011 15:04

Can't beat P20 for being nongreasy

wellwisher · 04/12/2011 15:08

I like Ultrasun Face 30 - sinks in so fast you have to be careful to blend it quickly, and dries really matt.

SantasENormaSnob · 04/12/2011 15:28

I used a roc one last year and it was fine.

ameliagrey · 04/12/2011 15:31

clinique city block. for some reason the spf 25 gets good reviews as it has more zinc in it- better than the spf 40.

i've used it for 20 years - every day.

Clinique City Block or Boots Soltan Once for Face - both very good

Wordsonapage · 04/12/2011 15:37

I use a powder SPF 30 from bare minerals

SlobDylan · 04/12/2011 16:09

I use this SunSense and it's brilliant. I find I can't wear more than one layer of product on my face (spf, moisturiser, foundation) as it always pills or slides off. This has a very matt finish and they call it 'invisible tint' - It doesn't seem to give any colour but I've found that since I started using it I just put a light dusting of translucent powder on top and my skin looks amazing! That is something of a miracle in itself for me, as I'm constantly either flushed or spotty. I get it in John Lewis and it's £14 for a tube, but lasts well. It's factor 50.

40notTrendy · 04/12/2011 16:22

Clinique city block great, really great! Soltan once also good. Clarins good too. But tbh, I found city block this year and won't use anything else from now on!

jalopy · 04/12/2011 17:35

Ultrasun Face 30 - absolutely brilliant

member · 04/12/2011 17:39

Dermalogica Solar Defence Booster which you can add to moisturiser or foundation too to give spf 30

sedgieloo · 04/12/2011 18:24

City Block is great, I used it for ages until I found this - better imo and a little more tint to it www.cheapsmells.com/viewProduct.php?id=54613

bubble2bubble · 04/12/2011 19:22

Nuxe ecran prodigieuse or Avene emulsion sunblock are both lovely and sink in really well without any greasiness

OriginalPoster · 04/12/2011 19:38

I use piz buin allergy, no problem with greasiness.

DebussyHead · 04/12/2011 19:47

AKMD · 05/12/2011 08:38

Gosh, loads of recommendations here. Clearly I haven't been looking in the right places! I'll visit JL at some point and go through the makeup counters. The sales assistants are going to just love me Hmm

The Sunsense and UltraSun ones look pretty good too. Hmmm...

HugosGoatee I wear sunscreen the whole year round. Three entire strangers one three seaparate occasions have told me that the one thing they would tell someone my age is to moisturise all over every day and to wear sunscreen, so I'm taking their advice!
