Pregnant or New Mum clothing on Christmas Day

I'll either be overdue (and therefore crabby) on Christmas Day, or a very new mum. I have no idea what to wear, would love to look and feel nice, by way of compensation for either being 41 weeks or bruised and battered from labour.

Of course, there is the possibility ill be IN hospital, which makes this a moot point.

If I am at home, what could I wear, should I buy Maternity? Ideally I will need to be able to breastfeed in it, and it be comfy enough to eat a mahoooosive dinner in. I would love to go in my PJs but will feel very sloth like on this one day (pjs will not be off the rest of Mat Leave!)

Im dining at my parents, which is a two minute walk away, and am a general jeans and t-shirt gal. Dont want a dress, but something festive all the same. Am 26, and size 12 (in and out of Mat clothes)

Thanks in advance!

If you have just given birth it will be very unlikely you genuinely care about how you look too much (sorry!) so comfort will be the key. I was in a similar position to you last year with my second baby. We just had a family christmas with my parents and inlaws. I wore a pair of maternity leggings (topshop) which I wore throughout pregnancy and for months after giving birth, especially as I'd had a section so didn't want anything sat on my scar but needed something over the bump.

I then bought several long tunic tops from white stuff which I wore on Christmas Day with a H&M feeding vest top underneath. Then wore ballet pumps on my feet. I didn't buy maternity stuff but things that were either roomy or a size bigger.

Good luck with it all!

3 years ago I had a week old baby on Christmas day. IIRC I wore some fugly jogging bottoms. Did put some normal jeans on the day after for a party but only wore them for a few hours as too sore on csection wound.

Go for comfy. Don't buy anything just for the day as you will hardly use it, and everyone will be looking at the baby anyway - put the baby in a nice outfit and some makeup/clean hair for you for the photos. A baggy top with cardi over is easy to BF in without getting lots of flesh out.

If you are still waiting for baby to arrive just wear the nicest existing top you have and whack some nice earrings or necklace on to dress it up a bit. Ooh a baby for Christmas

Feet - my feet hardly swelled in pregnancy but had massive swelling to feet and lower legs after baby born. I was wearing DH's slippers at home, they were so swollen and tight it hurt to go up the stairs - so plan for very comfy feet.

Hmmm, think ill stick with my trusty H&M maternity leggings, and maybe see if I can find a nice longer top to wear with it. Thanks ladies! Oh, and a nice pair of pumps

ooh yoga pants either way I'd say. I'm in the same boat - due xmas eve. I'll either be in maternity yoga pants or normal ones. Good luck!

Yy to yoga pants/leggings and pretty tunic top with vest under for bf

Im sorry to be the one to tell you this but you will still be fat ish and you will be bleeding heavily so you will need to go to the loo /shower every few hours to change and freshen up. You will also need to take meds frequently if you have had a cs

Sorry about the TMI

Under no circumstances should you do anything except sit on the sofa and bf your baby. Let anyone else change baby, hold baby and peel sprouts

Plan to come home early. Or pop home for a quick nap aftre lunch

I had a 4 day old on Christmas day and wore my mat leggings and a fab long top from Topshop. And about 10 tonnes of MAC cosmetics.
Then I had my 6pm hormonal cry and bled on my Mam's sofa. Whoops!!
