HELP!!! Sensitive to hair dyes - are there any "cool"/ash brown hennas that work?

Aaargh! After a nasty reaction to standard hair dye, I have been using a Herbatint dye to get my 20% grey to light/golden brown which I initially quite liked against my darker brown non-grey hair. Its been fine for a couple of years, but now I have started to react a little to this product and I'd like to go to Henna or another "natural" product without PDP dyes. I am also realising that the shade is a bit gingery and I need a "cooler" brown. Does Henna exist in "cooler" shades?

lush do a lovely range of henna,it can be a bit faffy to do...
but ive used it many times and always been very happy with it,i think 'caca brun' would do the colour you're after.

Henna is red. Other shades of Henna are made by added ingredients. I use Lush Caca Henna, I combine the Brun shade and the Maron shade which both contain indigo, mixed with coffee, instead of water, I also add cider vinegar to help it stick to grey hair.

TBH, it's really, really difficult to get an even colour once you have grey and colour is redder on the grey strands. It is permanent, so strand tests are essential. I can't in all honesty see you achieving a cool brown on grey, but there are lots of henna forums if you Google, with lots of info on addingdifferent ingredients to henna.

I use henna because I react badly to other dyes and it does leave your hair in fabulous condition.

What about Nature's grey busters? no nasties in it, developed especially for people with allergies to standard dye :)

Had a look at the Nature's grey busters, they don't seem to publish a full list of ingredients in the site and the mahogany, which is the only shade I'd use isn't recommended if your grey is concentrated in one area (mine is all at the front) :( Otherwise it looked promising.

Foof - I had never heard of Natures grey busters but looks promising! I would probably go for the medium brown.. Only thing is I wash my hair daily so if each application only lasts a week it could get very expensive. Does it really work? How many applications are in each pack? I have shortish hair.
