Hair help desparately needed.

Ok, I have always been quite proud of my hair, it is thick and shiny and in good condition, and I dont really have to do a lot to it for it to look nice, except wash and dry it, which is a good job as I am totally rubbish with hair or any kind of "updo" etc.

However, my circumstances now mean I am in desperate need of some hair advice. I had ds 10 mo ago, am going back to work full time in Jan. Before ds I would wash and blow dry my hair every morning, but i fear there will simply not be enough time to do that with our new frantic morning routine of getting ds to nursery on time and me to work. So, the past few weeks I have experimented with washing and blow drying before i go to bed, then putting hair in the renowned MN Sock bun. Sometimes this works, other times it is a dismal failure, especially when the sock bun comes out due to my battles with non sleeping/co-sleeping ds (another thread). I have tried dry shampoo, the type that supposedly matches my hair colour, but still get a grey powdery residue on my hair that looks crap.

Can anyone suggest any ways to style my hair quickly in the morning? It is collar bone length, layered, dark blonde/light brown, with quite a blunt fringe at the minute. No pics on my profile but will try to put some up later.

What's a sock bun?

Moulesfrites · 02/12/2011 09:09

Sock bun is where you chop the toes off a sock and roll it into a donut shape then sort of wrap your hair around it. The idea is that if you do it over night you will wake up with beautiful curls Hmm I thought it was well known on mn, there is a YouTube video somewhere.

I usually wash and dry my hair the night before (DD is 16 mths, so I fully understand the morning 'madness' Hmm) so in the morning I just need to run my GHD straightener over my hair quickly to 'take out' the frizz.

Have you try 'french plaiting' your hair before you go to bed? It's a little bit of skill involved but you will wake up with a nice wave in your hair. Wink

Or try spraying a spritz of water (or hair tonic) over your hair to calm those frizz?

If I really have a bad hair day before coming into work, I usually either wear my hair as a pony tail or wear a hair band. Hope you find this useful Xmas Smile

I have no idea how to do a French Plait - maybe you tube can help me there too, but I feel like its skill I should have learned when I was 7 and I will never acquire it now at 28! God help me if I ever had a DD!

I can do a pony tail but it never seems to look as cool as some people - how do you do a cool pony tail?

Have you tried the BBH?

I have very similar hair and routine to you!

I wash my hair in the morning, and then do make-up get dressed etc.

I quickly rough dry with a hairdryer and then go over with the BBH. Takes less than 10 mins, I promise.

Also, i could not live without my fast hair drying towel from M&S, they are £5 in their beauty accessories section. It absorbs the water from my hair really quickly and cuts the drying time down.
