Silver Rings - Where From?

OllieinOrange · 01/12/2011 14:52

Its nearly my 40th and DH wants to buy me a ring. I'd like a silver one (but not diamond), something a bit contemporary.
I've had a look on NOTHS and places like Pandora, Links etc Am finding it hard to find any that I really like. Quite like stacking rings but nothing too big!
Budget hasn't really been mentioned Smile but guess up to 500 pounds?
Any pointers towards websites or actual rings would be very helpful.

I like Wright and Teague eg www.wrightandteague.com/jewellery/prod-gala-rings/1509/ just don't look at the gold prices!

I haven't been or looked at the site this year, but Dazzle is usually v good for unusual contemporary stuff ? lots of young and up-and-coming designers.

£500 is a lot for silver. Most silver rngs should come in at under £100 unless you have them set with stones. These guys do nice unsual ones but maybe nt snazzy enough for what you have in mind.

pixierara · 09/12/2011 20:45

or you could go for a tiffany's elsa peretti design???

Iloveshoes001 · 09/12/2011 21:00

Ooh yeah. Some of her stuff is lovely, and with that kind of budget easy.

Alex Monroe has some unusual rings, I think most are available in silver

How about Scarlett - I know you are not looking for diamonds but I love these stacking rings [http://www.scarlettjewellery.com/eclipse-diamond-stacking-ring.html]

I get a lot of silver stuff from here There are some lovely contemporary rings there and the service is excellent (including a little chocolate delivered with each order) Grin

I bought my platinum weddingring from a jewellers 6 yr ago where they have a cheap rates premises and make all own jewellery on site.. it's the bloke makin the jewellery or mending it who serves you in his overalls, not a shop asistnat, and it cost me.... £350!! And it definately is platinum!!

bethelbeth · 10/12/2011 00:24

Id consider going to a jeweller to get something made £500 is a huge budget for silver. You could maybe look into matching ring and pendant or bracelet?

Typically when people come in for a commission the things we ask them to keep in mind are;

Is it for everyday wear? This will dictate the weight needed to endure constant wear.

Should it be statement piece or understated?

Do you have any ideas or things that you like? ie: art deco, birthstones, interesting settings etc.

What suits your hand? Chubby fingers need a thicker ring to balance out. Long fingers can go for lovely sweeping designs etc.

From this you should be able to get some inspiration for something totally unique!

If you have any questions about getting jewellery commissioned feel free to pm me
It can be a bit confusing / nerve wracking but completely addictive! Grin

Could you perhaps look at platinum rather than silver (I've got some lovely silver rings but the tarnishing drives me mad).
