Problems with Debenhams orders?

I ordered a Jasper Conran coat for my dd early monday.I still havn't had any confirmation of dispatch so,as the coat is meant to be delivered within 4-5 working days, decided to phone the helpline. After passing thru' various hurdles got an answer machine message 'due to an unprecedented no. of calls we are unable to answer at the moment please phone back later'.Is there no queueing system?.I think this is the worst customer service i have ever met in a large uk company and am decidedly pissed off.Especially as dd and i spent hours on saturday trawling the internet trying to find a coat that we both liked.

i met someone reasonably senior from debenhams at a party recently and mentioned in passing that i often get stuff from them online. he said 'really? and you don't have any problems?', i said no. he was genuinely surprised. so i think they know about it.

i jinxed myself though, as the next order i placed then turned into a total disaster and made me vow never to use them again. (they sent my item to the wrong address, even though i told them they'd somehow got the wrong address before they sent it. then they couldn't refund it because it hadn't been refused by whomever they sent it to. )

Shit, I should have understood how bad they are when the baby toy I bought last summer was broken when delivered. Now, I ordered some presents for friends' children xmas pressies in mid-November. Still no sign of the presents, no emails after the initial acknowledgement, no replies to my inquiries and unable to get through to them by phone from abroad as all numbers are 0871 or 0844 numbers. I have to assume that the order wasn't processed and start panic buying new presents. Just when I thought to be superbly organised this year...

It's not just the mail order and shop that are crap, have just thought of something else... They use premium rate phone lines. Phoning a payment through to the card centre will cost you. They must be making a fortune from people who are just trying to pay their accounts!

I have just made the last payment on my Debenhams card and and will never, ever be using it again. Hoooooooooooray! Some clothes I had to buy for my DD last summer when I had absolutely no money have finally been paid for. They weren't that cheap to begin with, but combined with their interest and being fleeced every time I rang to make an instalment payment, I may as well have shopped at Harvey Nicks, darling.

Brilliant! The money has gone from my account and no parcel has arrived. Nor have I had a 'sorry you were out' note through the door. And as my email address doesn't seem to exist on their system I am a bit stumped to find out what has happened. And of course their customer services line is busy busy busy... Hmm

I'm such a tit - I ordered something else!

I'm obviously not able to contact them as "due to unprecedented demand" their phone automatically cuts off.

My order of 7 items has 5 different statuses! Returned/sent/despatched/received/on hold. Joy! I'm looking forward to sorting it out sometime in 2012.
