Hand cream help!

Wolfiefan · 27/11/2011 13:58

My sister has started a new course and is working a lot outside. Her hands are painfully dry and even starting to crack. I have only ever used neutrogena hand cream and thought that could help. The problem is that my sister won't use anything that has been tested on animals. Any ideas of what would help. (I'll get her some and get myself off the stuff that has been tested!)

The hemp one from the Bodyshop may meet your criteria

Or if the L'oreal connection makes this a no-no, have a look at

Sali Hughes did a column recently on hand cream.

I am sure some of those don't test on animals - maybe L'Occitane?

MillontheFloss · 27/11/2011 15:38

i second the body shop hemp one

Eucerin hand cream is fab! I have bad dermatitis on my hands and it's the only thing that helps. Mine crack so bad they bleed! Highly recommend it

Lush Helping Hands. It's slightly oily so should protect her hands and heal them up. I wouldn't use anything else in winter, except Clarins but I can't afford that anymore.

L'Occitane shea butter one is fantastic. Not cheap, but totally converted me into using a hand cream. My hands look visably younger! And it soaks right in and doesn't feel sticky or anything.

L'occitane hand creams are My favourite, especially the shea butter and cherry blossom, they both smell divine. It doesn't leave any greasy residue on your hands. My hands feel soft and moisturised after using it.

Another vote for L'Occitane here, I bought a set of 3 for my mum and she was only saying today how good they are ( and I've bought her Creme De La Mer handcream in the past and she never enthused about it ).

L'Occitane shea butter is fab. I also like Aveda.

Bellavita · 28/11/2011 08:58

L'Occitane here too.

I would go back to basics - Diprobase is prescribed for my son's eczema and a huge jar lasts ages and works. I use it as a hand cream now.
I'd recommend she goes to the g.p. first.

Emphil · 28/11/2011 09:31

definitely l'occitaine - try the lavender one, or you can usually buy a collection of about four in a pack together so you can choose the one you like best
