Is this outfit ok for an interview for a PGCE course?

I'm considering something along the lines of...

this chocolate brown trouser suit

with this top in teal

these shoes (prefered a different pair but they don't have my size)

and possibly this bag and these bangles or similar .

What do you think? I'm rubbish at this sort of thing and the interview is next week!

It will be fine. Next wouldn't be my shop of choice but if you've tried it all on and it fits and feels nice then it really will be okay. They will be more interested in your subject knowledge than your clothes. Good luck! :)

Thank-you, limited to Next, New Look or DP's in my town and no time to go anywhere else! Not tried it on yet thats tomorrows job, haven't really seen anything else i like, didn't want to just go for black trousers and a top.

You will be fine - buy something that you will be able to wear again. A dress and jacket might be more useful long-term.

Morelove I just had an interview for the GTP and it was quite casual, just black trousers and top affair

Dont bother with bangles- you might have to do a fair bit of writing and theyll just get in the way

Thank-you, the invitation to interview said something along the lines of "please remember this is an interview for a place on a professional course and you should dress appropriately". I thought that implied suit but i don't want to be over dressed. I tried a couple on today and actually prefered a dark grey suit with cerise top underneath, i guess it i go in a suit and no one else is i just ditch the jacket??

What colouring are you? I think if you suit grey and cerise, you're unlikely to suit brown and teal. I am a teacher, and have sat on interview panels, and I would not wear bangles to an interview or coloured shoes. HTH.

Oh, and another thing. Get the outfit right this time, and then you can wear it for job interviews in the future too. Teachers do wear quite casual stuff, but you're still expected to dress conservatively for interviews.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/11/2011 18:32

Grey and cerise sounds better than brown and teal. And you could mix and match the grey with other colours and with black on teaching practice.

elinora · 26/11/2011 18:34

Of course. teachers are not renowned for their sartorial prowess. Looks nice.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/11/2011 18:38

Well, I wore my Vivienne Westwood skirt to school yesterday. Clearly I know nothing about clothes. Grrrr.

morelovetogive · 26/11/2011 18:55

I have mid-fair skin tone and dark brown hair. Comments about shoes and bangles noted, thank-you Smile

Yes, remus, but you're already in work Grin. Good on you.
morelovetogive, I'd go for the grey.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/11/2011 19:10

Blossoming - my comment was to Elinora, who implied that teachers and nice clothes don't mix!

morelovetogive · 26/11/2011 19:25

Thanks all, grey and cerise it is then, with black heels and black bag Smile
