Oil Cleansing Method - with or without castor oil?

Sorry if this has already been discussed, have searched but still don't know.

I've been doing the OCM for a couple of weeks without castor oil (no shops sell it round here). I'm pretty happy with the results but what it be even better if I used castor oil too? (I know you can buy it online)
What are your experiences?

I find it better with a bit of castor oil, but I have REALLY greasy skin. There are lots of eBay sellers with it.

pollyteapot · 26/11/2011 06:58

God, not one chemist in my town had castor oil, i get mine from a soap supplier.

Castor oil is great for drawing out the grime for your skin, but personally I only use a castor OCM twice a week (and just mentioned that on a different t hread a moment ago). I do the OCM every night, but the other nights I use a soft blend of apricot and peach kernal oils. tis lurvely.

I wouldn't put CO on my face - far too harsh.

I use a muslin cloth and a cleanser - so sort of OCM without the oil Grin

hiddenhome · 26/11/2011 10:21

You can buy it on Amazon.

Nyx · 26/11/2011 10:23

I prefer it without the castor oil.

bigfatgypsy · 26/11/2011 12:28

I do it without the castor oil too as I can't find it anywhere. I have stupidly sensitive skin too so haven't bothered to order any as I think it might be too harsh. I use grapeseed oil by itself and it's great. However like you I do wonder if it could be better with CO.

marzipananimal · 26/11/2011 12:59

Thanks for the replies. I have dryish, fairly delicate skin so wondered if castor oil might be too harsh. Doing it once a week or so with CO could be a good idea though. Hm, will see if I can be bothered to order any.

With your skin, I'd not. My skin is the opposite and I do :)

skandi1 · 27/11/2011 00:58

Without. Grapeseed oil, olive oil, jojoba oil on their own.

chipstick10 · 27/11/2011 08:13

I use it once a week but quite honestly i dont have the skin that needs it and i dont see any diff when i do except its a bit dryer. Once its run out i wil,l just stick with almond oil

Where does one buy pure jojoba oil?

MissBeehiving · 27/11/2011 14:41

I use macademia nut oil which I love for my dry skin.

marzipananimal · 27/11/2011 14:54

is jojoba oil expensive? Is it especially good? I'm using rice bran oil (cheap) which seems fine though I've used my (hair) argan oil a couple of times which was less drying

My usual cleanser ran out last night ( I use Lush's Ultra Bland which I love) and in desperation I used baby oil, seems absolutely ok for me (my skin is combination).

I'm with valiumredhead. I use a good quality cleanser and a muslin cloth. I tried OCM but it just clogged my skin up and I got loads of milia (tiny white heads and bumps). I've already posted about this tonight but I just love it, Clean Slate by Mama Mio. Lasts ages, smells amazing, works wonders! www.mamamio.com/uk/face/clean-slate.html/
